I have never killed one or even saw one!! Where I live and hunt in South Jersey I would be lucky to kill one that scores 130!!
Never seen a buck over 120s on hoof. I'd probably fall slam out of my tree stand if I saw a 170...let alone a 200. Or have a heart-attack...
In person while hunting I've only seen one that "may" have made the B&C, only big buck I've seen while hunting and not shot eventually....in a vehicle on a snowy night I saw a definite no doubter right by my childhood home. Thing was massive!
I've only had one encounter with a 200" buck. In 2007 I had him chase a doe by my stand at 20yds. While at full draw I couldn't get him to stop for the shot. Shook me up pretty bad watching him chase her over the hill out of sight. My lease buddy ended up killing him in gun season a few weeks later. Grossed 209" netted 187" 19 pts Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
That's what I said after he left, along with a couple other choice words.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
missed a really nice 10, not sure what it scored (the neighbor girl may have got it) and have a possible non typical on cam and our nieghbor man shot a 10 point pulling a dead 12 point around, both massive
In the 14 years I've been hunting the biggest deer I've seen on stand is 120"... And he's on my wall. Couldn't even imagine seeing something 180"+... Don't think I could hold it together.
I've had pics of a couple that ended up getting killed by others. They were 179 and 177. Both were from 2012. I was still happy with the consolation prize though since my buck grossed 160 1/8 that year.
The term "Boone & Crockett Buck", is used more than it should be. It is literally one in a million. For those that like numbers and understand how good Kansas can be for deer, just take a moment and think about this: from 1830 to 2001 there was only 255 bucks recorded from Kansas. Those are combined typical and non-typical. Netting 170" typical and netting 195" non-typical is something most people will never see or touch. A gross Booner or the every 3 year book Booner is quite different than the all time book Booner.
I shot this 210" Gross Non-Typical Mule Deer back in 2012. It netted 204" after deductions; B & C for non-typical is 215". I have never posted on here before since it was with a rifle. The mount had spent this last few years at my parent's house in Alberta, where I shot it and had the taxidermy work done. I just got it to my house a week ago and hung it up Sunday afternoon. I doubt that I will ever see another deer this big again. The inside spread measures 27".
I have wondered that. The body was a Mule Deer but the antlers look like it has some White-Tail Genetics. The area I was in had both.
