So I just got my first deer ever! Really pumped about it. Wasnt really trophy buck but im still happy about it! Now that I have it all cut up and trimmed. I saved one of the back legs (bone with lil scraps left on it) I would really like to give it to my dog but im not sure if I need to prep it in any way. Iv had it in the freezer for day or 2 now. But iv seen some places say bake it for few hours some say just give it frozen. Anyone have any advice? My dog is a pit bull so not like she some little ankle bite dog but I also wanna make sure I dont soften it up so much that she bites it in half right away. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

First off congrats on the buck and second I would just give it to here as is. Give my border collie the ribs and leg bones as is and never had a problem.

I give my dog the bones uncooked. I give her all the bones I pack out. She leaves only shards of femurs and bits of jaw bone and teeth. She's a small lab but has a head like a pitbull. :)

exactly, give the dog bones RAW, do not cook them. they tend to get very brittle, and can be much more dangerous.

my wirehaired pointing griffon enjoys raw bones very much. then again, i feed raw dog food as well.
