Hey guys, well looks like i'm eating tag soup again this year. Honestly one of the best seasons I've had as far as seeing deer. this new spot I found (public land) I was seeing 5-10 deer a sit which was really nice. I even had a couple sits were I saw 10+ deer. The only bad thing is everything was bald. I kept sitting this spot cuz I figured the bucks have got to show up eventually. Needless to say, they never did. I was going to take a doe last Saturday evening when I had 6 deer all within 15 yards of me but ended up getting busted when I was drawing back. They never nailed me completely but bounded about 20 yards out of range and then went back to their normal thing. Overall I had a blast this year as I've seen more deer this year that what I've seen in the last 3-5 years combined. I might get out late season if we get a warmer day so who knows if i'll get dumb lucky.

Just shot a buck. Believe it is an 8. Gonna have to locate a sled to get him out. 14-15" of snow out here. Pretty sure heard him crash. Not a huge racked buck. Woo-hoo!

I screwed up guys. In my rush to butcher the deer, get some sleep, go to work and drop off the head at the taxi (going to do a skull mount), I forgot to measure the buck so that will be delayed. I will post pics and enter the buck without the score later. I'd guess 120".

So, I decided to hunt this little piece of property the day after the 1st IL gun weekend 'cause it is secluded from gun hunting. It is a 20-25 acre wooded area that is surrounded by 20 acre estate homes. The surrounding area gets hit pretty hard with gun hunting so I though a few deer might be taking advantage of this woods. I had a doe come out and pass that kept looking back into the woods. She eventually walked out of the area. After about a 1/2 hour I figured she was just jumpy or something. Finally this guy comes out and provides me a nice 25 yds shot that I put thru the lungs and into the far shoulder. Luckily, a farmer buddy of mine was in the area with his F350 so he was able to drive up pretty close to the buck versus dragging it out in the deep snow. I entered the buck on the scorecard page, but will have to get the score in 3-4 weeks when I can have access to the rack again.

Very nice buck rizzo, I'm still holding out hope here. Cameras have been pretty dead lately but they are still passing thru. I just need to be in the right place at the right time.

    Great buck rizzo!
I was planning to put some time in the tree over Thanksgiving, buy my oldest daughter wanted to hunt, so I enjoyed my time taking her out. I'll take getting to spend time with the kiddos in the woods any day.

You guys have been doing awesome! Our team is right up there. I have been laid up for the last two weeks with a back injury unfortunately. But I will be back in the deerstand this weekend. Bucks haven't been very present but I'm still hopeful. And I definitely plan on at least harvesting a doe..God willing

Got my plaque mount back today from taxi. Scored much higher than I expected at 134 4/8". Updated my scorecard entry.
