I am just going to get it out of the way and let ya'll know i am a hater. I think they are over rated every year. They beat a VERY VERY VERY over rated Oklahoma team 59 years ago and that is the game the experts always go back to. They play a weak conference and there biggest game of the year is against Tulsa. Let them play a real schedule week in and week out and then if they run the gauntlet, let them get some of the big boys, whoever that may be...it will be like Hawaii getting ahold of GA a few years ago. They keep letting these teams go undefeated and then play the 9th or 10th ranked team. Put them against Alabama, Florida, USC, Texas whoever the heck is on top at the end. I just hate when people say Michigan, Peen State or Ohio State play a weak conference and do not deserve those top bids...Those guys schedule most of Boise's schedule for homecoming games. By the way Roll Tide, I will be posted inside Bryant Deny watching the Tide smash the old ball coach and his gamecocks this Saturday.
I agree to a certain extent and I am a SEC homer to the core, but shall I remind you what Utah did to Bama last year? These teams are good, regardless of their schedule.
I am glad you brought that up (I broke 3 windows with a baseball bat just remembering it) but that is a very good point. I think Utah should have got florida, just the same as I think Boise should get #1. That will end all of the BS what if talk, Florida would have pummeled that Utah team. Bama had their head up their tail because they lost a heartbreaker to Florida (piss poor excuse, I know). I say give them the #1 team and lets see whats up. They could also move them into the big 10 which would give them a stronger in conference schedule, and the big 10 would then have a conference championship game. Win/Win I think. Disclaimer, I do not think Boise is a bad school, they have fine players and a VERY good coach. I simply do not like the VERY good team getting a weak schedule and then all the reporters saying what should have been, and then not making it happen with their own votes. I feel the same way with ND, but I just think they are candy ( ) for ducking conference play anyway.
I'm kind of indifferent towards Boise State. You do have to give them credit because they simply do not lose, ever. Even the best teams trip up now and then regardless of who they are playing and they rarely do so. That being said, I don't even think they should be considered in the National Championship game because like you said, they don't play anyone. Sure they beat Oregon but that was at home, and that is the only tough team, other than a decent Tulsa team, on their whole schedule. If you want to be considered tough, schedule Texas at Texas go to Cal and play, Virginia Tech is never afraid to play anyone (I think Tech and Boise are actually schedule to play each other in the future at Fed Ex field in D.C). But look at Houston, another small conference team. They played Okie State and won, Texas TEch and won and Mississippi State and won (I cant remember who they're loss it to?). Thats a good team not afraid to schedule strong teams.
Agreed and true about the consistancy. Like I said I respect what they have going and they run a solid, clean program. I really do not know why my vent came on, I guess I just hate to see everyopne assuming year in and year out. After watching the game last night I passed my boiling point I guess. The more I think about it, it is not Boise State...it could be any other team in their position over the last couple years. The only true justice was when Auburn was undefeated and did not get to play for the title...now that right there was some funny chit...ROLL TIDE
If you look at non-BCS school in BCS bowls, there record is actually very good. Utah = 2-0 Boise St. = 1-0 Hawaii = 0-1 That's a 3-1 record. In my opinion, it looks like these teams deserve BCS bids over teams like Oklahoma and Notre Dame, who all have horrible BCS bowl records. I say give them a chance. Especially this year, since I have yet to see 1 truly dominant team. Alabama has looked the part of the #1, but they always lose to somebody they are not supposed to lose to. That's always Saban's trademark.
I don't think we have to worry about a BCS buster making the natty c anytime soon. This year will be FL/Bama vs Texas/USC. If 3 of those 4 really screw up Cinci may slip in there. I agree that Bama was caught in a trap game last year and was not interested in playing Utah. For Utah it was the biggest game of their life, for Bama it was letdown. I get it.
I would like to see a team like Boise do more than play just one quality opponent (Oregon this year) per season. They need to toughen up their schedule to get more respect. Their program is for real though...they have proven it the past few years. But, teams in the SEC, Big 12, etc play tough teams nearly every week.
I admit I was a hater and kind of still am. Not saying they aren't good, just wish they played a tougher schedule. Not really their fault though, so I have lessened the hate. I still believe most 3rd or 4th place teams in the major conferences would walk through the WAC too.
I just want Alabama to make it to the SEC championship game without a blemish and Florida waiting on the other side. Last year's letdown needs to be redeemed.
USC is having a down year... I do not want to see them go up against an sec team at full strength. I'd rather see Texas play Alabama or Florida.... And the Horns win
the BCS championship should be decided when FL plays bama for the SEC championship... both of those teams, even with a loss on their records are far and away the best two teams in college football... even if they play the SEC championship they should both return to play the BCS champ game... texas isn't even in teh same league, neither is USC
