Do you not remember the SEC championship game last year...Greg's coming out party as it was called. You guys chose to try and shut down the run, google his stats for that game. I am biased of course and would rather not put it in his hands (we have ingram and Richardson) but he has proven he is a winner. The numbers are never going to be gaudy, but no QB on Saban's teams will be. ***I wanted to add, I would not say you bottled them up, Ingram is still not 100% so we rested him thanks to turnovers that swayed the game our way, but make no mistake, if we run them back in the SEC Championship (If both teams are lucky enough to get there) you will get a steady dose.
I said "the most part". Richardson had one long 30 something yard run and finished the game with 60 yards on 10 carries. Also, I never said "I" or "we" bottled them up as I have no affiliation with Florida except as a super fan. Ingram had like 9 rushes for 30 yards. It was a push between Florida's D and Alabama's backs. McElroy was the reason Alabama beat Florida, he was 12-18 for 239, which like 80 of came on a screen pass to Ingram at the end of the first half. But he did make some good plays. Still, Alabama jumped on top of Florida quick that game and was able to coast through most of the way. I am saying should Alabama find themselves trailing or tied late in the 4th quarter, he is going to have drive his team down the field. That is what I am talking about when I say win his team a game.
Go SEC!!! A one loss SEC team is all but a lock in the BCS champship game. No matter what conference you play in, unless you have a conference championship, you should not be able to content for the BCS. Thats just my opinion. GO SEC--- GATORS
You're right, I don't know where I pulled the 9 for 30 from . It was early for me. But still 12 carries for 47 yards, is still running for less than 4 yards a carry. I'm not saying Florida dominated them, I'm saying they contained them. Mcelroy's stats were in reference to Michael's post about McElroy in the SEC title game last year.
I hope you did not think I was saying anything negative while using "I". Everytime I speak of Alabama I say I/we, same as the Braves, Hawks and Falcons. Those are "my" teams. I really do not want to argue with you perse' because I am not trying to do that, It will make me look like and absolute homer (even thought that is true) and not a true football fan. I fully understand what you were saying. Mcelroy did however do this last year, the Auburn game was placed squarely on his shoulders and he drove us down for the win...they called it his coming out party. I agree with you on this, Mcelroy is undefeated since the 8th grade, but not because of 1st round talent on his part, but because of first round talent around him...both at Bama and Southlake carroll. He is the right fit for our O, but he will not take home any hardware this year...maybe a bowl victory, but not individual awards.
At the end of the day....undefeated since 8th grade or not...... You surely would not want McElory leading your team, if you were down 2 touchdowns, (not 2 scores.. big difference) with less than half the 4th quarter left. Granted Bama is awsome!! But McElory.. have you had your medication today.. Dirty Harry once said.....A man's gotta know his limitations....... GO SEC no matter who your team is
No ill meaning with my post, Michael. I always enjoy talking football especially SEC football with you. You and I are very similar I think, we are both super fans of our favorite teams, but generally try to approach college football threads with an unbiased and respectful opinion towards others and their favorite teams. We are homers, no doubt about it, but love football all the same. I'll be the first to say it, I hate Alabama. But I do respect them very, very much. Saban is a great coach and they just have good players. I've also found Bama fans to be of pretty good class for the most part. Losing to Alabama when they have players like Ingram and a coach like Saban is a lot less painful than losing to Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia, etc.
Its less painful because Bama is not a traditional rivalry to UF like those other schools. Personally I can't stand them and I thought the world was going to implode last weekend when I was forced to choose between them and Florida in a game. I mean seriously, I had to watch two Axis of Evil teams go at it. Too bad they both couldn't lose the game. (Edited in to show that was mostly tongue in cheek.)
If Boise played in SEC where would they rank? I am guessing middle of the pack. In the Big 10 they are a top 3 team OSU Iowa Boise
This year maybe 4th behind Bama, Auburn and UF. Just ahead of LSU, Arkansas and South Carolina. They might could even win the East division this year. Year in and year out they'd probably average out in the middle of the pack. In my opinion of course
i think arkansas and mallet beat boise... imho, mallet is the best qb in college ball right now... after this weekend I'll give my answer about SC... LSU ~could~ beat them if les miles didn't step on his d!ck in the 4th quarter
I would put BSU with the LSU, Arkansas and South Carolina group more then the top 3. I think those 4 teams would shake out 4 through 7 somehow. I've been pretty high on South Carolina thinking they could win the East this year, BUT I finally took a look at their schedule and they play arguably the best 3 teams (Auburn, Bama, and Arkansas) out of the West. So I'm backing off a little on them because I don't think they can win the remaining 2 AND beat UF. Although I do think they'll give Bama more of a game then UF did.
maybe, i'm not sure yet... as mentioned earlier in the thread though, I think Boise, playing a full season in the SEC they end up with 3-4 losses... they might be able to win a game, but riding an entire season in the SEC? they wouldn't even qualify for a bowl game...
Say you put BSU in the East they'll play Florida, UGA, Kentucky, USC-E, UT, Vandy and 3 West teams lets say Ole Miss, Miss St and LSU. Most Likely Ws - UGA, UK, UT, Vandy, Ole Miss, and Miss St Ls - UF Toss-ups - USC-E & LSU Of course that's just my opinion
No, I've always hated Alabama. When I first became a Florida fan when I was like 5 (early 90s) I hated them because Florida and Alabama routinely played in the SECCG game, and then I hated Shaun Alexander when they badly beat Florida in the '99 game. I've always hated Alabama and they are Florida's primary rival right now.
I agree middle of the pack, they play well in big games, but they only have 2-3 of those every year. Playing every week against future NFL players takes it's toll. Especially the talent on the offensive and defensive line, where the SEC really separates itself from the other conferences.
