I was on a friends boat tonight and broke the fitting to the hydronic steering on the jack plate when trimming the motor up. The fitting broke off inside, any idea how to get it out? I'm stressing she cause it's not mine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Drill bit and an ez out. Most hardware stores or autoparts stores will have them.

Thank you both. I was also afraid of breaking the EZ Out off but it came out really smooth. The only problem now is finding a 90* brass elbow with a 3/8" flare and 1/4" flare..doesn't sound hard and it wasn't but I can't get the right sized threads. Ordering the part tonight from the manufacturer.

That is the nice thing about hydraulic fittings because of the oil they do not rust together.

Should be easy to get at the marine dealer, bet if you broke one everyone does. Should be stainless if it's on a high vibration area.
Seen a few race engines burn up over brass oil line fitting and fuel pressure fittings breaking off over my years

My thoughts exactly. I've never been on a boat with a "jack plate" and when he said load the boat when he backs the truck down, I did just that. Got it jacked up, I cut the engine and raised the trim..just like I always do on everyone else's boat but since I wasn't aware of what the Jack Plate does, nor did I know it was down, when I trimmed up the motor, I snapped the hydraulic fitting. I wasn't being careless, I was just uneducated. Only a $10 fix but there are much worse things.
