Hold the phone, you want take of the "B" and still call it a BLT??? You are making a TLT, not a BLT. I think a TLT sounds good too but I favor a BLT.

And if you add the turkey to a BLT, you're almost to a club sandwich, but alas then you need to toast an extra piece of bread, layer it just so, break out the olives and those little sword skewers to hold them in place...by the time I got done making one club I could be on my second BLT.

Swords and olives are for cocktails. Turkey is for sandwiches.

I don't mind a BLT (they are great), they are just 100x better when you add a sandwich meat to them.

I like the idea of the egg and the turkey added :) then you could add some cream cheese to the toast.

Yes, your "club sandwich" sounds good too but its not a BLT. Using your revisionist thinking another good BLT would be if you took some ham and Swiss with brown mustard and put it on a Pita. While a delightful sandwich, its not a BLT.

Did he ever actually say it was a BLT? I like peanut butter on my pancakes, does that make them a peanut butter sandwich?

Yes, He inferred or implied. He said of the BLT

“I don't understand why people stop one step short of a great sandwich. Put some dang turkey (aka substance) on there and be done with it.

    “There” would be the BLT.

I too like PB on pancakes.

I would go with Mayo and once in a while I add a big thick slice of Vadailla onion. Go thick sliced bacon and not the cheap crap.

Thick sliced is the only way to go. Smoking your own bacon allows you to make it as you like. The pre-packaged crap bacon you find in a store is pretty bad. Get the good stuff sliced thick and watch them slice it and wrap it in white paper. Then you know you got the good stuff.

So we've weighed in on dressing the BLT, the bread, touched on the bacon, and one astute scholar on the tomato thickness. I guess there may be room for degree of bacon doneness debate. I like mine a tad crisper for a BLT than my normal bacon savoring. Thoughts on tomatoes, lettuce variety? More bacon commentary, you can never have too much discourse on the merits of such a fine pocine use!

Crisp (near brittle) bacon is good lest one pull out a whole slice rather than it breaking cleanly with the bite.

Yes softer bacon is a pain in the butt in a BLT but its the only way I like bacon...so i fight through that issue myself

Looks like I will be trying a few variations tonight. I told the kids we were having BLT's tonight, my daughter said I dont like lettuce and tomato on a sandwich I want bacon, egg, and cheese, my son said that sounds good but I want a burger on mine too. So it looks like what started out as BLT's is now an egg sandwich and a bacon burger. WTH :)

No, no, no, no.......!!! Why would anybody fry their bacon to a crisp? If I wanted to check on a piece of burnt tree bark, I would do so. We do our bacon soft around here. Sometimes I worry that its even cooked enough.
