Does anyone have any blood trailing tips for someone that has a tough time with greens and reds? So far the best thing I've found is to have a friend along that's an excellent tracker, but it's not always possible.

I'm red/green colorblind. In the daylight there's not much that can help us. At night I'd suggest a bright green LED light. It will make any blood look shiny black on a brown background to us.

I actually have a chance and trailing one at night with my green light, but in the daylight my only chance is getting down on my hands and knees and looking for anything that looks wet. If the leaves are wet I won't even hunt unless I have someone else there to track for me because it's a lost cause.

I am color-blind also. On here a few months ago I asked the same question. Someone here who put out a video on youtube showed me how he uses hydrogen peroxide. Works good in the video. I have not tried this technique myself but looks convincing to me. I have a bottle of the stuff in my truck just in case.

I'm in the exact same boat. I only hunt with a friend if it's wet out.

My buddy is color blind as well. He uses the peroxide method and it helps a lot. The thing to remember is peroxide breaks down if its exposed to sunlight. So if you use it in a spray bottle keep it covered or use a dark bottle. He wrapped duct tape around his bottle to keep it out of the light.

I was going to suggest this as well. I have seen how it works, and to be honest, I was surprised at the results. Even the smallest specks of blood (naked to the eye) show up VERY white. I think this is best used when you've lost the basic blood trail and are trying to pick it up again. I don't know how practical it would be over a large area, but it does work.

Yeah, it sucks having this condition. I recently learned that I have a slight red/green colour deficiency....and I run a printing press for a living. I too have had problems blood trailing, people just can't believe you don't see that blood red "jump out" at you. Others on this post have mentioned peroxide, good idea. But if you and I are the same being weak with red/green, we are usually strong on the blue/yellow end. I believe there was a product called Blood Hound that would turn blood blue...this could help greatly in those times you don't watch the animal go down.
