I track for free with my wire haired dachshund from breedings of working European imported lines in South West ohio. When in doubt pull out, don't step on blood and track it through the woods because it's a big distraction to a tracking dog and the nose can see better than the eyes can with an expeirenced dog. Check out my blog of a few finds this year. My dog is 6 for 9 on deer calls, with the three we didn't find probably just wounded. I had to stop on two of those at property lines that we didn't have permission to cross. The other one the guy walked the whole area over with a buddy which really messed my dog up and she was tracking foot steps with blood from the deer that he stepped on.
