I was looking through a magazine the other day and saw that a certain type of arrow (cant remember which) had a white stripe about 6 in long on the shaft of the arrow. Supposed to tell you how your shot placement was as far as pink and frothy being lung, dark red being arterial, and crap being....well crap. I like the idea but im wondering if a person could do the same thing to some extent at home with a rattle can and masking tape. I dont remember the article saying much about how the strip is made or if its a reactive coating of some sort. So just curious if anyone knows or has tried this.
I believe you are talking about the Bloodsport arrows. In my honest opinion I don't really see a benefit in it. I haven't ever really had a problem telling if the shot was good or not with just a normal black arrow. If you did want to do it though, I would probably just use a white arrow wrap.
The white portion is a little more coarse than the white wrap to help hold the blood a little better. Does it make a difference, well I've never used them so cannot say. I've never had an issue telling but I don't have a ton of experience.
