    My neighbor is raising chickens now, I have been buying 1 dozen eggs off him for $1.00 :) now ya cant beat that :)

    Bruce, I used to get Backyard Poultry magazine but I cut back on the publications I get. There's a message board called 'backyard chickens' that's fairly interesting.

    Plucking broilers isn't hard. I used to have access to a big scalder and drum plucker when I worked at a gamebird farm. We processed about 10,000 birds a year back then. Without the machinery it's twice as labor intensive but still pretty easy. If you scald them just right the feathers practically fall out.

    Raising chickens like that looks great. We live in the city so we can't. Maybe if things work out we can move out a ways so we can.
