Looking for a blind comfortable for 2 people and video friendly. I hate zippers and velcro. Shoot thru. No cheap fading material. Reasonable price. This is for next season. Experienced suggestions/links/prices? Thanks
IMHO spend a few extra $$ and buy a Double Bull Dark Horse. I've owned several blinds, some are decent, and some are just junk, but none have been up to the Dark Horse. Dan
There's enough DB's out there that can be bought, used, to have me suggest something different to you. There really is a difference (and it's distinct) in quality. ONLY reason I don't suggest an ASAT quickie (made by Eastman) is your reference to shoot through. FWIW, I've never shot through (sans practicing) the mesh on my DB. I also won't be using mine for quite some time (I have a Matrix).....and maybe not at all for turkeys. If you'll pay shipping, you can run mine through the ringer and decide for yourself. Just make sure I have it back by April..........................just in case.
One thing I also might mention is that I have owned 2 DB Matrix blinds, and was not impressed at all. If you buy one be sure and get a hub & rod update ASAP or you will be asking to have trouble at the worst possible time. I personally preferred the DB T5 over the Matrix. Too much is made of the ability to shoot 360 degrees. A bowhunter only needs a small hole to Git-R-Done and the less open a Blind is the more invisible you are. I may pickup a T5 or another Dark Horse this year. I sold both my Matrix blinds. Dan
Thanks Jeff for the offer, but I loathe borrowing things. I just hate the "chance" that Mr. Murphy steps in and, well chit happens. Still, I do thank you for the offer. Why have you never shot at an animal thru the mesh? Thanks Dan. What is the difference in the DH and the Matrix? I think the T5 is too small.
I could have gotten a "good one", but I'm sure I avg. 25 sits/yr with mine (not counting practicing out if it).....and it's 5 yrs old. Only "problem" I've had with it is the hole I shot in it (BLIND....not the mesh.....lol). I don't deer hunt out of mine, Bobby (OK....I have "maybe" 3-4X). Deer hunting (OK....as far as "I" know) is the only time "I" would utilize the mesh netting. Turkeys don't give a flying flip if the mesh is there or not. So, I don't ever use it. Offer stands if you change your mind. I wouldn't be "out" anything. I don't "plan" to use it for turkeys this year, at all.
Don't confuse the T2 with the T5. I'm honestly not sure Primos still makes the T5 but I think I still have access to some. Hence I may pick one up. The Matrix is basically 2 pieces. A top half and the bottom half, only held together by inside straps and outside cords. The rods and hubs are different (at least on the older models) and very prone to breaking even though they always took care of it. The Dark Horse is basically half T5 and half Matrix. It gives you the option of which side you want to set up as a primary choice. Also since it is joined around half of the Blind and has the new hub and reinforced rods it is Much stronger. I have been hunting out of mine a couple of years and I've zero problems or rod breakage. Dan
