What do you guys do when bowhunting these birds and they are quiet? I am new to bowhunting turkeys but have killed quite a few w a gun....but I'm used to run and gun style and roaming and calling. Does everybody just read and re-read posts on this forum like me and be patient? LOL. That's what I've been doing. Calling every 15-30 min hoping a Tom strolls in range!!

Yep. Just get in an area they like to be and wait. No sense educating them. I've only made one call this morning. It's so windy I doubt they hear it anyway.

I wouldn't quit calling. It's quite possible they can hear you but you can't hear them. I would do some light calling every 15 min. (clucks, putt, purr) and get after it with a series of aggressive yelps and and cuts on the half hour. I go to the box call when it's windy as it is by far the loudest of my calls.

You just never know. The bulk of the gobblers I have had committ this season came in completely silent.

If you figure out where they like to be or like to travel, than it all gets easier to get them in your lap. I do this by pre-season scouting, watching & listening from a distance. I tend to pattern them similar to figuring out a bucks summer pattern. It makes it easier to call a bird to a place he wants to be or where he travels, rather than trying to call him away from it. Good luck this Spring!
