So I need some help with blind hunting as this will be my first year hunting out of one. My first question is how much does shooting through the mesh affect the arrow? Also is it possible to leave the windows completely open if I'm dressed in all black, and still stay hidden from deer close to me? Any other advice would be helpful as well...thanks!!

The mesh affects the arrow a lot if it's a mechanical and not at all if it's a fixed head.

Having the windows open or not is going to depend on the lighting, how close the animal is, the angle they're at and how much you have to move. You may be fine one time and totally busted another. Remember that in most blinds your bow is going to have to be right up against the window frame when you shoot which is going to put it in full view.

If you shoot a fairly fast bow shooting thru mesh doesn't affect it much at short yardages. But be sure to test it out before you hunt anyhow. Mechanicals may prove a problem also.

I've always heard you need the mesh up for deer, but I hunted without mesh last year afew times and saw deer. It's hard filming thru mesh. I also had a trail cam up in front of the blind had had shooter bucks in front of it during daylight. (Just not the day I was in it.) I think this could be different with other deer. But I did have it brushed in pretty good too.

    Wearing black definately helps.
