How y'all like em? I'm a new archer and was considering blazers since I got a whisker biscuit. My only concern is if they'll be able to stabilize a fixed broadhead, specifically the montecs. What have peoples experiences with them been like, and also what kind of setup did you run them with?

I use fixed blade broadheads (NAP thunder heads) and I have found that it takes bigger vanes to stabilize them.

I shoot the NAP HellRazors with Bohning blazer vanes and have no problems. I practice my BHs out to 50 yards (sometimes 60 for giggles) with no problems. Either that or my arrows are just consistently and accurately unstable

Ditto on the larger vanes, when I shoot fixed blade heads I usually shoot a 4in vane. But with that said, give them a try and see how well they shoot, until then you dont really know..

Thanks for the info gents... I think I'll try both and see how they do. Those hellrazors are pretty close to the shape of the montecs, so maybe they'll perform close to the same. Montecs are even a little smaller so maybe that'll help too.

I shot blazers with montecs this season and had good success with them. They hit just like my field points out past 40 yds. You should have no problem with it if your bow is tuned right.

Just make sure the vanes and blades line up.

debatable! i shoot muzzy mx4's that are in no way in line with my vanes. My arrow flies as well and as accurate as field tips. All the way out to 50 yards. Just sayin......

But have you ever tried a 4 vane arrow with them? It will blow your mind.

I shoot blazers and 100 grain montecs, shoot great. can hit a two inch square at 50 yards. Have practiced with them as far as 80 yards. great flight all the way. You may have trouble shooting blazers through the whisker bisquit. my neighbor was shooting that, it kept tearing his fletchings off.

If you put them on and they hit differn't than your field points then your bow isn't paper tuned. I had that this past year. I paper tuned, as soon as I was shooting bullet holes, the broadheads hit the exact same mark.

Good luck and enjoy bowhunting, its a riot!

I'm going to side with Matt on that one. With my Blazers affixed at an angle with a helical mount I have found my best performance is with the BHs splitting the difference of the front of the Blazers.

I need to try that 2 vane approach mentioned above if I ever feel the need to put a "rage in the cage" again. LMAO

lol they've actually done wind tunnel testing that proves that wrong. broadheads alignes with fletching does absolutely nothing to affect arrow flight

The main reason I was lookin at blazers was because of their reputation of holding up to rests like the whisker biscuit, my goal was to increase the life of my fletchings. Overall obviously my aim is the highest level of accuracy, but I guess I'm tryin to have my cake and eat it too. I've been playing with the idea of getting an apache rest, however since this is my first bow I was opting for something a little more simple.

    Thoughts?

you will not regret getting the NAP Apache rest! Great customer service as well! I to was shooting a wisker biscut. It did mess up the vanes after a short while.
