I am new to the forum, and have a question about a product that I am not familure with. I bow hunted for years and got out of it about 12 years ago after some health issues but kept some of my equipment that are great, ( my Mathews Feather Max) which is like new according to the dealer I took it to this week to have it checked and restrung. I have no idea about the Blazer Vanes that I see. I will be hunting Whitetails in Louisiana and will not shoot past 35 yards period. I was very good with a bow then and am starting to work back up. I put a Whisker Biscuit on the bow to replace the old rest. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVISE ON BOTHE THE " BISCUIT AND BLAZER VANES" I don't have any arrows with them yet but hear that with this rest they are a requirement. 55 yoa and relearning Thank you.
Yes, someone gave you good advice, Blazer vanes work well with Wisker Bisquits, but they are not the only vanes you can use. Fusion vanes will also work and I'm sure there are others that don't come to mind right now. The problem with most vanes going through the wisker bisquit is, after a while they can wrinkle or tear because they are softer than the blazer vanes.
Blazer vanes are fantastic through the WB. As are any similar vanes that are more rigid, such as the fusion that jmbuckhuntr mentioned. Just shoot the cock vane straight up. The black bristles on the bottom of the WB are stiffer than the brown, and a vane passing through those will not only tear the vane up, but also cause erradic arrow flight. The WB is an excellent rest. People have a difficult time accepting it, though, because it goes against everything we've ever been taught about fletching contact with the arrow rest. The reason it works is because all 3 vanes are in contact, effectively cancelling each other out. We sell an awful lot of these at the shop, and they have no negative effect on accuracy. Good rest, good vanes.
Blazers work great, along w/fusions. As for the biscuit. Go with a fall away. You won't be sorry. I had a biscuit, go rid of it. Too much noise drawing back an arrow. Friend of mine bought, he got rid of it for the same reason. But look at some of the earlier posts regarding that debat, and it's a long one.
