Just ridiculous. What makes it even better is that it was on a great defender and shot blocker in Kendrick Perkins. One on the best dunks of all time.

Feel free to blast away but I don't see the big deal.....my personal opinion is that the NBA is at such a low point in dunking that they make a decent dunk out to be the best ever. Yea, it was good but come on....let's not forget the past and the sinks that not only took power but had style and finesse.

I think its just the opposite. The athletes and dunks are so good nowadays that we are spoiled. Ever watch an old dunk contest from the 80s? Those dunks wouldn't even win at the McDonalds HS dunk contest.

BM... I'm not proclaiming this to be the best dunk in the history of the NBA . BUT, it was really nasty! And I dont' forget the great dunks of the not too long ago past. But you have to admit... this dunk as well as others are downright sick!

Here's one a couple days prior to Griffins.

two of the best dunks Ive seen in the NBA in my life within a few days

    Exactly

Dunking from the free throw line gets a big *yawn* nowadays. And the athleticism of Griffin, for a man his size, is just stupid. But his size also makes his dunks look less impressive. A 6'5" or so guy can do much more finesse dunks than a 6'11" guy.

But whatever, keep thinking everything from yesteryear was better.

Agreed. There is only so much you can do when dunking a basketball, it's pretty much all been done before.

But today's dunkers are head and shoulders about those in the 80s. Like Vito said, Dr. J's dunk from the free throw line is an after thought to many of today's dunks. There are guys today who can windmill from the free throw line, dunk two hands from the free throw line, dunk between the legs from the the free throw line. It's insane.

Power dunkers like Griffin and Dwight Howard generate so much force when they dunk it's ridiculous. Watch one of Dwight Howard's dunks and notice how high the ball bounces off the floor AFTER going through the net. It goes higher than most guys could slam it off the court.

Simply put: Today's athletes, in any sport, are far better than those of the past.

There are 5 dunkers across a span of 4 decades who get credit as the best ever.........Take their best dunks, and every single player in the top 15 of the league today could do those dunks.....Granted they invented those dunks, but the level of athleticism across the board has skyrocketed over the past decade or two.....and it isn't even close.

look at every sport .. everything is getting BIGGER, FARTHER, and MORE INTENSE. There is no comparison to earlier days (Maybe golf). Take the X Games for example, these fools are throwing double backflips on snowmobiles.

Nothing makes that dunk look average. Vince Carter jumping over a 7'2' man doesn't make Blake's midair collision and finish look average. Mozgov is smiling :D

Yeah lets not get carried away. Most of the dunks in that compilation happen on a regular basis in the NBA now. Some don't even make the highlights, let alone start a discussion.

Awesome dunk!! Those who aren't impressed......don't compare dunks you've seen in a contest to a dunk in an actual game.

It WAS NOT a dunk.... A throwdown, yes, but it wasn't a DUNK!!! That's my beef with it being called "the greatest dunk ever." Blake plays so much trying to get a dunk that he's bound to have some awesome dunks throughout a game. Watching the game against Utah last night, he's lost the ball 3-4 times because he was so set on getting a big dunk, he forgot BALL SECURITY. LeBron's Dunk, which was REALLY A DUNK, impressed me more.

A midget who wasn't looking, and ducked. It wasn't even LeBron's best dunk that week.

I didn't stutter, it WAS NOT A DUNK!!!

And you boys can trivialize LeBron's dunk all you want, but it was the "Big Dunk" of the year until Blake's "pseudo-dunk."

People got so excited talking about it, they missed the fact that it wasn't even a dunk..... Save a little face, watch it again, and recognize that it was a throwdown his finger tips touched the rim, after he let go of the ball. Actually, could've even been an offensive foul as I saw it.
