I am getting some black marks on my vanes from my arrows. Could this be from the drop being not fast enough? My bow is only shooting at 50 lbs and its a mission ballistic. I don't imagine that it could be that fast. Should I upgrade me drop? I have a QAD hunter
QAD hunter on a ballistic is fine (speed wise nothing to worry about)... First thing I would check is to make sure the QAD rest is timed right... Just before you come to full draw the timing marks on the rest should meet. If they aren't meeting or they are meeting to early in your draw cycle then you may need to slide your football (or serving) down or up... Could also check your knock point - with a drop away, I usually like half a bubble high - not perfectly level, if that makes sense...
^^^this^^^ You're either not timed correctly or you're nock height is off. Either high or low can cause contact. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Both the rest timing and nock point need to be set right so if you aren't sure exactly how to verify, I would just take it to a shop and tell them you want your QAD timing and nock point position checked.... Should only take a few minutes...
I wouldn't put it past the rest to have an issue. I'm sure some people have had great luck with them, but the only 2 I have experience with have broken.
I have heard that in some cases your rest could be bouncing back up. The "Hunter" model does not offer what they call "LDT", lock down technology. Basicly a type of brake system to stop it from slapping back up. Taking it to a good shop is your best bet, because it sounds like you may need your whole rig onced overed and tweaked. Good luck!
The thing is my vanes are small on my arrows and I have epics where the vanes are twice as big. If they hit on these thumbnail sized vanes. They will destroy my epic vanes
Might try taking it to the shop, but I had mine timed perfectly and tied 1/8" high nock and still had contact on the prongs...retied it at a full 1/4" high and then had contact on all three vanes, the top/lead vane was hitting the full capture bar and the bottom ones were still hitting the prongs....sent it back a few days ago and ended up switching to NAP apache. It shouldnt be that hard to get a rest to not have vane contact....I wouldnt recommend this product ever.
I've never had an issue with this rest and I've set up several. If you follow the directions, they work perfectly. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I beg to differ, but then again each bow is different(ie. faster, slower, heavier draw, possibly improper spines?), and each rest is different, maybe some are defective and others not. Either way, from everything I read, its a very common issue with this rest, and this being the 'economy' QAD ultra-rest, I'm sure its a combination of the rest being bad as well as improper installation. The main point being that fletch contact should only occur if the rest is way off...it shouldnt have to be perfectly perfect just to work.
Most of the rests I setup were the hunter models. They are very easy to time. Most just don't do it right. They do it like other fallaways and that will not work and will even damage the rest. Its pretty simple. Adjust the rest so it comes up in the last inch of draw only. Set the nock height so it is level on a hybrid and about an 1/8" high on a 1 cam.(this is using a level on the arrow) If there is still an issue, you change over to the provided ts1 launcher. What makes this rest such a good one is the same thing that people have issues with. It stays up longer than other fallways which is a good thing. Longer arrow support. I shoot mine with the cock vane up because I will have contact with the blazers if I shoot cock vane down. I could switch to the ts1 launcher but I'm not concerned with it. It tunes perfectly. Im having a similar experience, im very confidemt my arrows are not hitting the whisker biscuit, however. What is the chance it is from tight groupings and hitting the bodies of other arrows?
