Hi All Dumb Question! I have a Bitzenburger Dail-O_Fletch. I have both the straight and the right helical clamps. The thing came set up for straight, but I want to use Blazer Vanes and they recommend right helical. How do I set up the jug for right helical. All they say is look at the picture in their manual and there is too much glare to see anything. Thanks Pastor Scotty
I'm not answering your question specifically, but I have a Bitz with both clamps although I've only ever used the straight clamp. Fletch up the Blazers just fine with the straight and they fly great. Aren't the Blazers so short you would have a hard time getting any helical on them? The helical part of the clamp doesn't even begin until the end of the blazer vane.
You should be able to get some helical with the straight clamp. Just offset if on both ends. I haven't had any problems with straight fletching blazers though.
Does having a helical make any difference using blazers? Asking because they are so short. I have read that a helical is best used when shooting fixed broadheads and a straight when shooting expandable's. I have a Bitzenberger also and always just used the straight. I also use the blazers and attach them almost on the nock.
LittleChief: My Question is related to where to I set the dials. Do I turn them both all the way to the right, just one, or play with it till it shoots straight. PSR
Pastor, you're just going to have to tinker with it a little bit... Loosen up the allen-head screws at both the top and bottom on the chrome knobs that reside on either side of the Bitz; that lets you offset the way the clamp sets on the arrow shaft itself... I like to adjust it so that there's some offset to the jig itself, and THEN I apply my feathers/vanes with the right helical clamp. You'll need to ascertain that your bases (of the vanes) are still making solid contact with the arrow shaft itself the entire length of the vane... I've got mine set so the line above the top chrome knob is about 1/4" to the right of the index line on the clamp itself... the bottom line is about 1/32 - 1/16 to the right of the bottom index line. That's the setting I've found that produces the hardest, or most aggressive, offset with my helical clamp on my shafts while still yet maintaining solid contact with the bases of my fletching. Hope that helps... but it's just gonna be a little trial and error.
