My daughter has decided she and her college roomate are getting an apartment together and taking some summer classes and have decided they want to live off campus for the rest of college.

Bittersweet because she will not be coming home for the summer and considering she had to get a 2nd job to help pay for it, she will not be coming home much.

But I'm proud in the fact she is taking classes and is learning real lessons of life and she isn't afraid to step out there.

This is all on her, were not involved in this at all. Well, other than the moving I had to do this weekend.;)

She will be 20 this month and I'm sure that will be tough on her and her mother with her being 4 hours away. Probably tough on me too. ;)

The last hugs before returning home. There were a few tears.:(

It is so hard to let them go but it is hard not to be a proud parent as they get independent and really start to grow up. I bet you'll be putting a lot more miles on your truck this summer.

It won't be the truck hopefully. 4 hours away means I'll be taking the car that gets 30+ mpg.

My little girl is 9 and I dread the day she leaves for college. Hopefully she wants to come into the family business.

I so dread the day Zach moves out... I told him to make sure he chooses a college that's somewhere I like... cause I am going with him.

You're doing great and I know you are very proud, as well, you should be.

i am definitely not looking forward to my lil girl growing up.

she's by sidekick, hunting buddy, shooting partner, etc...by all accounts, it seems like her growing up means her and i growing apart...those pictures are tough to look at.

Good to hear she is doing well. I made the plunge a few years before, but my parents lived 10 minutes from my undergrad campus so visiting home wasn't a problem.

Good to see she is doing well with school still! 2 short weeks and I'll be moving my stuff into storage back in Kentucky. Surreal feeling to be done with the classroom forever.

We're having a hard enough time with Kindergarten graduation for our oldest, I dread high school, let alone college.

I haven't seen my parents in years nor have I lived near them in 9 years now. Can't imagine what that would be like to be near family. I have an eternal longing to be home. But hey I go where they send me and someday hopefully when I get out there will be a sweet job waiting for me back home

sounds similar to my situation. Just got a new job down here at school (gander mountain) I'll be taking some summer classes and moving into a new apartment. Im also 3 hours from my parents. I like being here and away and working on establishing myself and figuring out how go about life and the responsibilities that go along with being on your own.

They grow up even when we try and keep them small.
They leave home when we don't think they're old enough yet.
They succeed in life to prove they are adult and we raised them correctly.
But then no matter how old they get, when they come home to visit they're still our little children.
