Yeah, I'm afraid like many of our institutions (Govt, Food, Judicial...) they are in need of a ground up resurrection. Problem is, they won't do that unless they are brought to the ground in the first place

Great article, but it never really got to the bottom of why these supplies, tests, medicines, etc. are being marked up so ridiculously high or what we can do to stop it. Ulitimately all that article did was depress me about healthcare costs even more than I already was.

Everyone's so busy fighting over guns and wars that nobody bothers to complain about the $77 box of gauze pads we're getting stuck for. Or my $220/month asthma medication that I have to pay for out of pocket b/c my insurance no longer covers it. Just so Glaxo Smith Kline can post a $9 BILLION dollar annual profit.

I generally dislike government regulation of any industry, but this is out of control. 5.6 BILLION in lobbying money to government officials on both sides of the aisle? Ridiculous.

Lobbying in general is one of (if not) the biggest problems we have in America. It has taken away the ability for any group to just do what is right and good.

Well put, what I liked is he actually looked at the cost, he did not try state we need this or that, he just reported on the cost of healthcare.

This guy was on John Stewart they other night. It was a really good interview.
