Well I got my first Kansas turkey this evening. I had somebody drop me of at some private land about 5pm and when I arrived there was already birds in the wheat field. I got within about 150 yards and set up and started calling, after not hearing or seeing anything for almost an hour I started slowly walking up to the field. I was about 50 yards from the filed when I see a hen walking about 30 yards ahead of me.I instantly slid behind a cedar tree and watched here walk past at about 25 yards, and behind her I saw a strutting tom so I waited until he was about 30 yards before I laid him over with the 12 gauge. The beard is about 5 inches, spurs are 3/4 inch and he weighed 19 pounds.
Cool. Now if you are enjoying the adrenalin rush from a 12 gauge wait till you take one with a bow. I was excited 15 years ago when I shot my first couple of birds with a shotgun and then I took one with a bow. I'll never use a shotgun gain. Bow is way more fun.
Congrats, got a tango down here on take off, a coupe more peeked out, lesson, take the first shot you may not get another.
Congrats to all! I've been hunting since March and still got nothing! Season is ending soon my luck needs to change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
