Well I got my first Kansas turkey this evening.

I had somebody drop me of at some private land about 5pm and when I arrived there was already birds in the wheat field.
I got within about 150 yards and set up and started calling, after not hearing or seeing anything for almost an hour I started slowly walking up to the field.

I was about 50 yards from the filed when I see a hen walking about 30 yards ahead of me.I instantly slid behind a cedar tree and watched here walk past at about 25 yards, and behind her I saw a strutting tom so I waited until he was about 30 yards before I laid him over with the 12 gauge.

The beard is about 5 inches, spurs are 3/4 inch and he weighed 19 pounds.

Cool. Now if you are enjoying the adrenalin rush from a 12 gauge wait till you take one with a bow. I was excited 15 years ago when I shot my first couple of birds with a shotgun and then I took one with a bow. I'll never use a shotgun gain. Bow is way more fun.
