Well today was the last day of Turkey Season here in NC. Anthony and I thought we would give it one last go around. The day started at 5 AM and this bird went down at 5 PM. No lie this bird cirled within our field for three hours before I could get a shot. Talk about frustrating and trying your patience. I couldn't have done it without the superb calling from Anthony. I shot this bird at 30 yards in the back and it made an exit right above the breast. The NAP Spitfire did what it was meant to do and the arrow stayed in the bird for about 10-15 yards when it went down. This was my first bird and i'm very happy...thanks to everyone here at home and here on this site. He wasn't a big bird...barely had a beard and spurs but the fight was well worth all of it. I wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Congrats! Nothing like it coming down to the wire. Tomorrow may be my last outing for the season. Hopefully with similar results to you.

No it's a Jake...not much of a beard and hardly any spurs. But a Jake none the less.

I was thinking the same thing? Looks awful gray/brown for a jake.
    Congrats on the bird.

Well if it is...then there's not much I can do about it now. It came in to the calls and strutted. Had red on the head and a beard so I shot...lol

Congrats on the bird. I would agree that it looks to be a hen. I noticed the score in the contest. 20 lbs. !?? Wow. That would be a huge jake, or the worlds largest hen. Maybe we have another world record turkey on our hands?

Can you post any pictures of the base of the neck, spurs, and beard?

Those were the only pics we took. I have a few more pics outside my home but that's about it. I have never cleaned a turkey before so Anthony helped me before his 3 + hour long trip home... so we were kinda in a hurry. There were no feathers going up the head like on a hen...low breast like a male. I don't know...if I don't get any points for the contest then it is what it is. Can't do much about it. Just happy about the kill. Thanks for the congrats everyone!!:D
