I am getting ready to upgrade my binoculars and was just wondering what power i should get. I live in indiana and hunt moslty hard woods and ag fields. and since we are a shotgun only state (no rifle) i really dont need to look at deer at 500 yards away. what power do you all use or reccomend?
the ones i got are great they are tasco, 16 bucks they are black and water proof, they are 8X25 350ft at 1000 yds these have sirved me good for 3 years at seeing deer for racks and for turkeys for beards
for a years ive always used cheapos and they have done well.... but i finally stepped up and got a pair of good binos... i just picked up a pair of 8x42 bushnell trophy xlt.... they are 180 dollar binos and cabelas had them on sale for 79.99... i felt i had to jump on them... i really wanted 10 but i cant afford 180 rite now.... the difference in clarity with these binos makes a huge difference from by cheaper bushnells and i am very happy with them so far... these are a little big if your moving alot but they will serve fine if im posted up on a field..... if im in the woods and wants some binos i take my range finder... it a bushnell scout and is 5x.... it is great for the wood becuase its not like you gonna get a far sighting anyway... problem is it is small and no light means no seeing... i would really say 8 or even 10 would suit you fine for a shotgun hunt... buy something that is water and fog proof...
You will really do yourself well to spend the extra money and get good bino's. It's amazing how much clearer they are. Also, clear glass will reduce eye strain, which reduces headaches. I would reccomend the Vortex DiamondBack 8x42's. Best $200 I ever spent, can't complain about the lifetime over-the-counter gurantee either! http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-8x42-binocular
I bought a pair of these at the beggining of last year after buying a really cheap pair and was amazed at how good they are. My dad has a pair of windriver binos, and my brother has a pair of bushnells. They both paid over $400 for theirs and I would have to say that I like the quality of the zhumells better. In low light they perform really well and they are very clear. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good pair of binos for a cheap price. Read the reviews of the 8x42 and the 10x50's. Everyone is pleased with them. http://www.binoculars.com/binoculars/bird-watching-binoculars/8x42signaturewaterproofbinoculars.cfm
8 or 10x42s I would think would be the best. I have some bushnells that I have had for several years and like them very well. A crooked horn bino system is a must.
I spent a little extra money for my first pair to be Nikon Monarchs. I have been really happy with them. Like these except 10x42 power http://www.bowhunting.com/shopping/Products/Nikon-Monarch-Atb-8x42-Apg__7345.aspx
yeah people say leupold and swar really higher end nocs are to high but when you look through a pair and have always used cheap ones you have ruined your self from the first look they are a big difference i love my swaros but i like my leupolds also
I use 10x42 bushnell trophy series binoc's, I like them alot. I paid around $180 for them at cabelas 3 years ago...
I bought a pair of zen ray ed2 8x43 and I like them alot. i had a pair of nikons before, the small compact 12x25 i think. The 8x43 works alot better for the hunting I do, and these binos are unbelievably superior to the nikons I had. Check out the zen ray line at 8 and 10 power. They make several different models for different price points.
I have had many different Binos. Khale, Swaro, Bushnell and Nikon. The one thing they all had in common was they were 10 x 42 except for the khales they were 8 x 42. The high end Swavorski was very nice but every time I went out in the field I was so worried about protecting them I could not really use them. (My budget want allow me to play with those high price toys). So I sold them. I still have the Bushnell Legands and have passed them on to my wife. I personally have the Nikon monarchs and can say truthfully they are as bright and clear as any binocular that I personally have ever owned. Light weight easy to adjust and bright. Once again I like the 10 x 42 so if I want to use them on vacation or anything other than hunting they will work. And work fine they do. They do run around $300 but they are worth every penny.
