My go to pair for everything the last couple years have been 10x42 Swarovski SLC. Have a pair of 8x32 Swarovski El that I like to bring along for certain applications. The only glass I feel is close to these are the Zeiss victory HT which has unreal light gathering properties, looking into shadows for Coues deer these would get the nod all the time. I have owned lecia and Vortex as well. Neither are on my radar however for different reasons.

The best glass for the money I think are Zeiss Conquest HD, they are very nice across the board in both 32 and 42 mm objectives. Good light gathering, excellent contrast and decent field of view. If I was on a budget they would be at the top of my list.

Dubs I'm surprised to hear you had trouble with Swarovski customer service. They have been on the spot any time I have had to use them. It took me a long time to part with the money for a pair of 8X32 but I haven't regretted it yet. I must admit the Vortex are nice as well.
