    a son of a *****! :D

Some of you may recall Johnny and I chasing this buck in IL this fall. We haven't given up on him yet, as we are heading back down around the 14th for one last round.

    Here's the story so far.....

We first got pictures of him when Johnny walked into his treestand one morning and heard a deer walking away from him. A minute later, the flash went off on one of the trail cams and took this pic....

We hunted a few more days after this, with no sightings of him or his buddies, so we decided to head home for a few days as more rain was setting in.

We left in the wee hours of the morning on November 9th and got down there early enough to get an afternoon sit in. We were only sitting about 140 yards apart and had a 135"ish buck, named Hans, inbetween us for about 30 minutes before dark. He never presented us with a shot.

    Hans....

Before jumping in the stand that night, Johnny pulled the card on the camera inbetween us. When we got back to the trailer that night, we popped it in and....

BAM......Bill Brasky staring back at us......

We keep scrolling through the pics.....a few more of Mr. Brasky and his buddies. As we get near the end we see a blurry daylight pic taken the day before we went back down.

Upon further inspection.....its definately him. Look in the tree to the right of his rack....Yep, Johnny's stand.

The stand was 70 yards from that scrape, but who knows which way this bad boy came from, or went. Had he been there, would he have shot him?

Johnny did see and film this buck later in the week. He had him at 70 yards with a doe at 9:30 am. After waiting all day, the buck never got out of its bed before dark.

After talking to the landowner, it sounds like Mr. Brasky is waiting around for us to come back and play a little more chess with him, as no one has shot him during the first firearm season. Hopefully he makes it through this weekend and we get another chance to see him again.

    To Bill Brasky!!!! :D

I still cannot believe you Wisconsin-ites come to my home state and land yourself on a piece of ground with a 160+ just aimlessly walking around.

    I hate both of you.

But seriously.. good luck to you guys.. I hope one of you get a chance.. and really hope you get it on film... bastards.:)

Oh.. and why the name hans?

    Thanks Troy! We'll be trying!

Yeah, we got pretty lucky when we were invited to hunt this piece. After our first trip there, we thought it was going to be a cake walk.....right. Like I told you many times, this season has frustrated me beyond belief.

The first trip down, and the first sit actually, Johnny had two bucks milling around him for 30 minutes, coming within 25 yards at times, but never gave him a shot. He named them Hans and Franz. Seems like we have a SNL theme going this year! :D

Franz is a mainframe 9 with kickers below both his brows.....

How old you think he is? I have my guess!

The buck pictured above I presume? A 4 yr old.. without a doubt.

If anything.. maybe a yr older.. but because of his positioning in the picture I can see no belly or sway in his back.

But a no doubt for 4 or better... neck completely covers the shoulders.

Another great buck.. but that Brasky is a STUD!

I know you had some troubles down there.. but maybe some of that corn came in.. and you guys can get on one.

Exactly what I had him at. When Johnny first saw them, he said that Franz was definately 1 year older than Hans.....he was right.

Now, you and I talked before.....we also both came to the conclusion that Brasky was only a 4 year old as well. Still think that after seeing the 4th picture down in the thread? He almost looks to be 5 there, but the others all scream 4.

I can see where he looks to be older in that one photo.. but I think its just the angle he's standing at.. where his hind legs are actually closer to the camera..

I still agree with you that he's a 4 yr old.. and just a STUD at that. If you 2 don't take him before the seasons out you better find his sheds.. then take him when he's 5.. that will be a story to tell.

Every time I see his pics I know why you two didn't make it down to us. He would have me TIED to my tree. Particularly when all I saw were 2 yr olds on our lease.

Again, that's the same conclusion I came up with.

That CRP in the picture I sent you is scheduled for its 5 year burn late this winter. My guess is that we should be able to find some sheds in there after its burned. They may be stained a little from the fire, but should make it through. Without burning it, it would be impossible to find anything in there.

Yeah, I was telling JZ yesterday that I really missed hunting with you two bozos this fall! Its always a great time! If its any consolation, the only buck I saw in 20 days there that I would have shot was Hans. Without the cams, I would have thought the property sucked.....now I know its just me! :D

We once had a bachelor party for Brasky. He ate the entire cake, before we could tell him there was a stripper in it.

Heck of a buck...hope you guys close the deal.

He was a character on Saturday Night Live. The skits always start out "Bill Brasky is a son of a *****."

Here's a clip.....watch it til the end and you'll see why we call this buck Bill Brasky.
