Here's a pic. For you die hard shed hunters this is the current world record five point shed found by Rick Paske in my right hand, and my same side to the deer a year later! These are from 2008-2009.
That is a monster Richie. I ran into Rick at the bar the other day and he said he sold it for $10,000. I don't know if it is true but him and his secretary said it is.
So...whats the story with this deer? How come nobody ever shot it? Did anybody ever have an opportunity? Ive been reading about this buck that would have been bigger then the 213" world record typical for 5 years now and never got a real story...i think i even saw the shed or a replica at the G2G? Time to spill!
The rumor is it was found on IL Forest Preserve Property where no hunting is allowed. Those were the last sheds found from this deer so it was assumed he died going into 2010.
From what I was told he was never huntable unless you had access to private land that borders the preserves.
Word on the street is he was harvested and the hunter never went public with the story. Who knows there's so many rumors one can never be certain, one guy had him inside of 20 yds on a hard quartering in shot and as he went to draw the deer saw him and spooked. Every back yard spot in the area became hot after the sheds surfaced, everyone I mean everyone wanted a crack at him!
