I'm sitting here tonight reflecting on the past season and I was pondering if I had any regrets coming out of 2010. And for me unfortunately there probably were a good number of things I regret. It was definitely a learning year in a brand new area, with brand new opportunities.

But I think the biggest regret I had was not getting access to enough land. I got access through family and friends to 2 farms that I could hunt anytime, and then I had a whole slew of land I could hunt when I went with a friend who owned it. But unfortunately I banked on my friends land too much, and when I couldn't hunt there as much as I'd originally thought, and my farms weren't producing, I ended up being screwed.

In 2011 I'll be sure to gain access to as many spots as I possibly can, no matter how much extra work it will take.

How bout you guys? Any regrets from the 2010 season?

I put what I believe was a good hit on a decent (for my woods) 8pt, and ended up not finding him. I regret that. Opportunities at "shooter" bucks are few and far between in my hunting area.

My biggest regret was clanking the bottom cam of my bow on the rail of my Summit while at full draw on the biggest buck I've had in front of me while bowhunting! :bash: Just when I thought I was getting over it.... :throw:

Made a poor shot on a buck and never recovered him, but he's still out there and living. Also passed on a nice (again for my woods) 8 point 3-4 times because I didn't have a perfect shot.

I passed on one really nice 10pt because he was in the direction of a house while i was going to my stand =[] didnt want to risk missing and hiting the house =[ was bummed tho because he was beauty...i also had a 40yd shot on a nice 8pt and didnt take it because i was afraid of wounding him...he ill be a nice buck this up coming season

The way I figure, if you're not comfortable with the shot you shouldn't take it. After hitting that buck marginally I know i became more picky with shot selection. That 8 pointer was probably 27ish yards but i passed because of one small twig covering his vitals.

I need to either do more trimming to my shooting lanes, or put myself in better position.

I drew on too many bucks this year, and never unleashed an arrow.

My biggest regret would be not hunting whitetails enough this year. I spent WAY more hours scouting the land than I did hunting it. I only made it out 5 or 6 times and had a couple good encounters but nothing good enough. I did pass on a decent 10point at around 35 yards. My biggest regret about that is that my camera batteries failed me and I didn't even get a picture of him. Knowing I passed him based on not having a perfect shot made me feel better about where I am mentally for hunting. Last year (my first year) I got too excited whenever a deer came in and really had a tough time passing up any opportunity as I didn't know if I would get anymore. I wounded a deer last year (saw him 2 months later so at least he is still living) but still am not over it. In the end, my scouting did result in my buddy getting his first doe and a really nice mature buck out of stands I set up.

I have none. I hunted when I could with the weapon of my choosing. I put in the scouting hours and hunted as much as I could given my busy family life.

I had countless opportunities to take does, but we're only allowed one buck per year and no does.
