Got him about 9am Sunday morning. He took an additional 2 steps after trying to stop him. I rushed the shot and the arrow deflected on a sappling or branch, hit way back and luckily took out the femoral artery. He was down inside of a minute and 30yds. Definitely a shot I'd like to have back but glad the outcome was the best of a worst case scenario. Taken in Morgan county, IL. 119 4/8 gross 117 5/8 net Better wind direction and cooler temps tomorrow, still got another buck tag and a week of vacation. As I found him, you can see the exit Shot after bringing him back up, was nearly 70 and still an hour plus from home. No bow in the pic but you can see my arrows on top of my truck. And one last photo from the backside
GREAT BUCK!!!!!! Just goes to show better to be lucky than good.......or something like that. And the ability to shoot two bucks in a season with your bow? another reason to find my neighbors to the south irksome :D Grats on the buck, good job!!!
I see that you are from springfield. I actually live in Jacksonville, and hunt over around Winchester in Scott county. Where abouts in Morgan county are you hunting? By the way nice buck. Congrats
Thanks guys I'm hunting on my uncles land on the Northwest side of Jacksonville. Been rough going as of late, rain finally stops and the temps shoot up. I've had 5 sits so far this year, first 3 I seen 6-8 deer each morning. Last 2 I've seen 2 deer, had a 10 point about 80yds and never a chance and then this one yesterday. Hopefully these NE winds bringing cooler temps will have them back on their feet in the morning.
