Yesterday after a good storm I stopped by a pond after work that I've fished for many years. Before then I had never caught anything out of this particular body of water bigger then probably two pounds. I noticed a run off of rain water coming down the hill in to the pond and pitched a 10 inch green pumpkin trick worm with a red flake just a couple feet from where the run off was entering the pond. Before the bait even had time to settle to the bottom my biggest bass to date smoked it for the start of an awesome afternoon of fishing. Any guesses on the weight?

Yeah anytime you can find water flowing into water it is a great spot to cast. I used to fish part of a river that had the big irrigation tower right by the river, whenever the sprinkler turned and was spraying into the river cast where the water is hitting and bang dang near every cast you would get a hit.

Same way we talk about smallmouths on the river not the weight the length is always the question.

Well it's either my scale or the quality of the picture because my scale said right at 6 pounds.

If its a 19"-20 bass it would be 6 lbs. But that doesn't look 19" to me?

Scale is hard to determine from pics of fish. Can't tell how big a dude you are, fish is in a foreground plane, etc...not really a lot there to establish the scale. You could have said 6 pounds to start with and I'd have been like, M..k...cool!

Awesome bass. To be honest I didn't measure it because I caught it out of a pond I plan on fishing more regularly and my overall concern was to make sure it survived haha. But there is a lake by me that I fish quite a bit that requires a 15 inch length to keep largemouth so I know he was atleast that haha. If he wasn't 19 inches id say he wasn't too far from it

I can see that pushing the 5lb mark. I caught a 17" 2 Sundays ago that would probably have pushed 3.5lb.

Looks to be a solid 17-18" with decent body weight.

Taste too good to release, vouple nice slabs on that one regardless

Haha yeah I love bass I just can't bring myself to filet the big ones. And yeah I agree, most the weight was probably in the head I could put my fist in its mouth. Appreciate it!

I've had two 5+ lb fish get off this year at the boat and I can't say either of them looked to long. It's all about the fatty females smallies! Nice Fish!

You are correct about not knowing how big of a dude is behind the fish making a difference.. My brother in law is a small dude and fish always look like monster when he holds them. Here is the same fish with me and him holding it. Thought it was funny. If you can't figure it out, he is wearing white shirt.
