It was 14 below when I woke up this morning. I'll be honest I did check out the weather in Ely just because I was curious. How do deer survive -35?
WOW FITZ, I'M ENVIOUS OF YOUR LANDSCAPE AND LAYOUT, BUT SURE AS HELL NOT -33. HERE IN LOWER MICHIGAN WE RARELY SEE ALOT OF SUBZERO TEMPS. STAY SAFE.
They bed and feed. Nothing else. Between my dad's bird feeders and ours, I think there are 15 deer bedded within 150 yards of our houses. It's actually not bad if it's not windy. High yesterday was -11. I spent 5 hours outside trying to salvage our Ice Road from slush. Basically I was on the 4 wheeler plowing all day. If there's no wind, -35 feels like -5.
I guess I should clarify. If you are active and moving, -35 is the same as -5. These temps will keep me out of the stand for the last days of the season
Fitz everyone is south of you. It was -10 here this morning, felt a lot colder with a 10mph wind too.
Sounds like a great time of year to stay inside. lol I won't pass out too many jokes as I plan to move even farther north, I'm just hoping being on the coast regulates the temps enough where it isn't quite as extreme as you have there. We shall see!
Saturday it was well into the 40's here, and then today it was -1 in my truck when I left for work. I'm ready for spring and open water already............
Saturday @ 1:00PM it was 28*. Sunday morning at 7:45 it was -20. Gotta love the temp swings. Oh, it's already -17 now.
