My fiance and I made the biggest purchase of our lives last Friday. We dove into home ownership. The house has almost everything we wanted in a home and we couldn't be happier. The house sits on 3 acres, 2.5 of it is wooded and the previous owner has taken some nice bucks off the property. It is just a perfect travel corridor that the deer use. The lot is narrow and very long. Thats not even important though compared to the house, its just an added bonus. The house has been completely remodeled. It has original hardwood floors, brand new kitchen, bathrooms, central heat and air, plumbing, etc........ Its located in the country away from town. Across the street is crop field, and there are no neighbors on either side that you can see. The back of the property butts up to more crop field. Its very secluded and peaceful in the yard. The basement is partially unfinished. The photo's that you see that are not finished is going to be my mount room/man cave. All in all we are excited to call it ours. The feeling of owning your first house is very serreal. Now its time make it ours and personalize it. Its a big responsibility, but we are welcoming the challenge with open arms. In the mean time I have alot of things to get done before deer season opens. I'll be running with the throttle wide open straight into deer season. Thats part of home ownership though, right?
Nice! Where'd you end up at, still the Crown Point area (atleast I think that's where you said you were)? That basement looks like it has a bunch of potential to be a man cave haven!
Thanks for the kind words guys and gals! Yes, Ty, we ended up outside of Crown Point and just south of the town we both grew up in called Cedar Lake. We are about 7 miles from Crown Point. The mount room should be awesome too; I will definately give an update when it is all complete. I have lots of wall space in there to work with.
Congrats!! I just accepted a counter offer on a home today, I close August 30th. Exciting! Good luck!
Congrats! Exciting times for sure. So much potential and all the fun of making it your own. I recall buying our first home back in the late 80’s. 5 acres and a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home for $40K. Today some SUV’s cost more than that. I’ve bought and lived in several homes since then, each as exciting as the first since you get to make it your own.
Thats very cool Kyle, congrats and good luck with your new home also! Thanks again everyone for the nice words. The house was originally built in 1951.
congratz, just make sure to get the man cave finished fast, because after several months in a new home you'll (I really mean your wife) find other things/projects to do around the house that'll take priority over the man cave.
