Ben I agree on one lung. I am gonna go out in a bit and try to find her. If it was cooler out I would let her sit for the night but Mid to high 50's and lots of yotes.

A few years back I took out 1 lung, and some guts on a doe. I waited an hour as I had seen her bed down and snuck up on her. She was still alive. My follow up shot then hit a twig and she stood up and ran off, acting very hurt. Rain came in heavy a few minutes later and I backed out.

At 4:00 that afternoon me and my dad headed out looking for her. The rain had washed away all blood trail and right at 5:00 my dad spotted her in a small drainage, and very much still alive. This time my 2nd arrow found it's mark and she never moved.

I shot her at 9:00 that morning, and she was still alive 8 hours later.

Hope she is still there this morning with no damage! Keep us posted! If I was near you I would help in search.

I have looked in every possible spot and can not find this deer. 24 years of bowhunting and this is my first lost deer. What a sick feeling. I have put 10 hours in looking. What a drag.

Sorry for your loss. I lost a doe last year and it stuck with me the rest of the season. The key is have a grievance period and then move on. Good luck.

Oh one other thing. Did you try calling a local dog tracker? Even with the rain the dogs might be able to do something you can't.

I tend to get a bit nervous on any temps over 50 degrees. But, depending on the shot - and how early you start looking you could be OK. Good luck. And, congrats on the first deer of the season.

I've never heard of one of these in the bowhunting world.

I hope you find her Dave!
