I was out scouting a new place this morning when I ran across this guy. This is by far the biggest rattlesnake I've seen in Oklahoma. He was very close to 6 foot (if not a little over) his body was bigger around than my forearm with a head the size of a fist. I'd hate to get hit by this dude as far back as I was. He wasn't too happy with me taking his picture. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Nope. Took some pics and let it go on it's way. I use to kill all of em. Nowadays I just get some pics and go the other way. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Man, you guys taking pics of these poisonous snakes and not killing them To each his own but I'm killing every poisonous snake I see because if I don't the next time I might not see it.....
Good looking rattler! I used to see them quite a bit when I worked for the conservation dept. I actually still have the rattles I pulled off one as he tried to get away. They really aren't very aggressive unless continually provoked. Copperheads on the other hand are some little bastards.
I have never been afraid of any snake I can see. It's the ones hiding in your ground blind that'll get you... Bwahahahahah!!!!
I was leaned up against a tree once in Louisiana and kept hearing a buzzing sound. There was a hole between two roots... nestled into the hole was a small timber rattler... maybe 2 feet long. I literally had my butt within 6 inches of him all morning... thankfully it was a cold morning.
Hopefully if I ever run across it again it will remember I didn't kill it and it won't bite me. The guy making my longbow said I should have brought it to him so he could have used it as a backing. I've never seen one this big. He was a monster snake for sure. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
They don't bother me as long as I know they are there. He was nice until I starting trying to take his pic. He got kind of angry after that.
That's correct. This is the first one I've seen this far east. I seen a western last year several hours west of here that was a good 4 1/2 foot. Wasn't anything compared to this one though.
My summers here in pa are spent "hunting" timber rattlesnakes. No snakes are harmed. I used to work with the D.E.C tagging females and keeping tabs on the den sights, but now I just do it for fun. Find them, take some pictures, and let them on their way. They are very misunderstood. They are not mean, the just want to be left alone. And honestly, when dealt with correctly are quite docile
