Supposedly a storm that could be as big as the blizzard of 78. I think once again it's getting blown out of proportion and the media has every one in a panic telling them to stalk up on food, water, and batteries. I guess we will find out tomorrow. But especially this storm I noticed that the news definitely caused a serious panic around here. We better get some serious snow or this is definitely a ploy to stimulate economy around here?????

I remember when weathermen used to predict weather, not create drama for ratings.

I dont understand why everytime there is a weather phenomenon on the east coast or west coast it is a big deal in the news, but when it happens in the middle of the country its nowhere on the radar of national news.

Yeah I'm here in RI and supposed to get "slammed" by it. I agree that its blown out of proportion. I guess we'll just wait and see. I have a feeling they blow it up out of fear that if it does storm hard and they don't say anything someone will find a way to sue them. Haha

In my area they're calling for a possible 2'+ of snow and gusts of wind up to 65mph with sustained winds around 40mph.

Yeah... supposed to get SLAMMED here too. Not as bad as East of me along the coast which is supposed to get the brunt of it. Overblown as always IMO. YESTERDAY they were talking if they should close schools for today lmao. I'm telling the school system when crap like this happens. Beautiful winter morning IMO. The start of the dang thing is back by lake Erie as I speak. Going to start trickling in around 3 or 4. And personally I dont' really see that big of a difference between 4-6 inches of 12 -18 inches. Little more snow to move and brush off. After a road that recieved a foot of snow is plowed it is the same as a road that recieved 4 inches and was plowed.

Yeah canceled pretty much all schools here today. I think its more of a wind issue than just the snow amounts in the part of the country. We're supposed to have some pretty strong winds along with snow. So they say. Haha

We're not suppose to get more than 14 inches or something like that between this afternoon and Sat. morning. We've had that much 3 or 4 times already this year plus other snows. However>>>>>>>>>> 2 feet of snow along the seaboard with NY, Boston and all that can put a strangle on things. They don't have places to put all that snow in the cities.

Dmen.... you ask why they don't report big snow falls in the middle of the country. Because there's no one there. LOL They have more people living in the Bronx than live in all of Iowa. LOL

Exactly, they haven't got one right around here yet this winter.

What did they name this storm? They used to only name Hurricanes.

I think I headed them calling it Nemo which I've never heard of them naming a snow storm. Coming down pretty good now we got about 3 inches in 2 hours. But from 7-7 we are supposed to get up to 3 inches an hour. Add that with 75mph gusts I guess this is going to get pretty bad. We shall see. And Fitz totally agree back when I was a kid they would just tell you the weather. Not tell you what might happen worst case scenario possible every time. And if ****ie Albert said we were getting 8-12" we got that much. Now they predict the same thing and we get a dusting. So bad!!!

Ended up with right at 2' of snow. 185,000 lost power here in RI. Luckily I wasn't one of them. Did spin my truck out while turning onto my street and whacked a light pole. Pretty upset with myself for not throwing the extra weight in the bed( as my truck is only 2wd) :( :(

Oh well, at least it didn't involve another vehicle and nobody was hurt. After all that's why we pay insurance. Haha.
