Wow what a night, took me til this am to get all the footage up and even then, it's shortened to fit Photobucket's limitations/restrictions. Where to start? I picked Ben up and we headed to my honey hole. Ben was up to video and I told him with the doe sightings we've been seeing in the honey hole, if a good doe presented itself for the camera I would go ahead and take a doe out of this herd. Previously to this night I didn't feel it was necessary as the sightings were usually down. The doe must be rebounding. After settling in, it was long until I noticed Ben perk his ears to the woods to his right, he quickly turned to me and said Bear! Bear! Seems the bear I video and you may have watched from Friday night decided to show himself again. Were he was was through some thick hickory leaves so I pulled the camera from the arm as I had a better opening then Ben did and this gave Ben a chance to video him with his camera. He hit an opening so I made kissy sounds to the bear and he stopped and sat down and looked for us. ENJOY THIS BEAR VIDEO After the bear moved off we settled back in again. I heard noise behind me and I turned and looked through the thick foliage and I saw a flicker so I quickly glassed the area....deer I told Ben then I saw an antler move, BUCK I said to Ben and he turned the camera as the buck moved out from directly under us by that time. I noticed immediately this deer has been shot and just Friday my cousin who hunts our adjacent farm told me he nicked a branch and hit a 6 point. I had no doubt it was this one alive and well. PREVIOUSLY HIT BUCK VIDEO The buck moved off down the field and disappeared. He fed for quite a while out in front of us and didn't seem worse the wear from the shot. It wasn't long when I spotted a lone deer coming down the CRP field. I glassed it and was surprised to see a lone doe coming. No fawns in sight. We couldn't have choreographed it any better. I had my 82nd perched and ready and contemplated a 40 yard shot when she turned and come right in. BIG DOE DOWN ON VIDEO FOOTAGE She's a big nanny with no milk so she hadn't had any fawns this year. Hard to say if she was barren but she was a fantastic doe to take down. I hope you enjoyed the video. Ben did an outstanding job.
Sweet footage Rob! That was VERY cool! Keep up the good work buddy, I'm pulling for you to whack a nice buck on film this fall!
I loved all three videos! You guys look like professionals, really! Congrats on the nanny. I'm trying to understand why that buck isn't a dead deer. Aren't their intestines in that area?
a lot of hard work, i hope you know how much all of us benefit from this as well. thanks for you time!!!!!!!!
Rob, very nice, Hey, hows the GL2 treating you in low light? Mine is dialed and working great until legal shooting hours are up.. Again great work and footage! Best of luck the rest of the season.
Congrats again Rob!! I look forward to coming home after hunting and seeing what videos i can watch tonight lol.
Wow, that was really cool. But when you gonna hook up the sound and put some music in there? Nice job on the video Ben and great shot Rob.
I'll say it again awesome video Rob, the quality and editing nicely done. Can't wait for future episodes.
Great video Rob, wish we could have gotten it done at my place but hopefully next year we can do it on film together. Congrats to you, and I can't wait to see more footage from you soon!
Those are great videos. The doe was a nice one. Congrats on the doe. I felt the same way last week w/my doe. A deer is a deer. Bucks are obviously nicer to shoot, but it's still the sake of the hunt & shot with a doe.
That's very cool of you Rob. Personally, I think it's pretty close to being just as much fun running the camera as it is being in front of it. Unfortunately Mike and I couldn't pull it together this last weekend to get my doe on film, but we're hoping for some better results in the next few weeks. I'll also be doing some self-filming a few times this weekend and am hoping to get something worthwhile. We'll see how that goes. Keep up the good work bud, I'm impressed!
