My older brother has been on a tear lately. Big muskies are a tough go with flies. Its hard enough to move them, let alone get them to eat. But my brother has spent years figuring out when and where these big girls like to be, and its really payed off this year. He lost a couple big fish earlier this year, but a few of them are finally hitting the net. All fish were measured on a bump board and rounded down. This 46" fish started his run of big fish. Then came a 51.5" on a topwater bug. A shot of that big toothy grill. Next was a 52" old girl that looks like she has missed a couple meals. Followed by a 51.5" that hasn't missed any meals. A short video of the topwater fish. He's had quite a run and the best time of the year is yet to come. Those big girls will pack on egg weight over the next two months and some real giants get caught every year. Hoping I have time to visit him before the season closes. Que the jokes about my Mom being a better hunter and my brothers being better fisherman. And go...
Vito posting pictures of his bro landing big fish....shocker. Great pics and vid! Thanks for sharing. What depths you (and by you, I mean your brother) catching these monsters?
Those are awesome Fish Vito.....I myself am heading up to Eagle River, Wisconsin on thrusday for 4 days of plugging for the toothy ones, we don't use fly rods tho, just the standard casting rods with a lot of bucktail baits.
The best looking son and the best fisherman? You got to make more money though right? Awesome fish and video, thanks
Awesome pics and video, I was out on Saturday for only the second time this year. No fish boated but had awesome follow - her nose was touching the back of the cowgirl as I went into the figure 8. She did 2 full figure 8's that close but I messed up and pulled it out of her mouth trying to set the hook. Awesome adrenaline rush though. 3 follows total for 4 hours of fishing.
Nice fish! i wish we had muskie like that on this end of Erie! west basin is only good for perch, walleye and smallies it seems. i heard clear fork around mansfeild oh has some good muskie fishing, need to get down there myself....
Man those are some nice fish - makes me think I've got to get over to the Presque Isle River and throw some ugly streammers at 'em...maybe them couple low/mid forties are pushin fifty after 3 more years(just wish I had the time)
I don't know a ton about muskie fishing other than its very tough. Your bro has to be in the very upper eschelon of muskie guys. I know guys that would love to catch fish like those over 5 years, let alone a summer period. I also didnt realize muskies can be a pretty fish.
