I am looking to get a tree stand soon. Has anyone used any of the Big Game Treestands? I wanna stay in the price range of $150. Whats the easiest way to put up hang on tree stands? With a line mans rope or set up the climbing sticks and then set it up when I am on those?

Hey there and welcome to the forum!

I don't have personal experience with Big Game stands, but they have always struck me as solid though not as comfortable. For the same price, you can buy something from a company like Gorilla and get a very comfortable, durable stand. The King Kong Lounger is in your price range among others. As I'm sure other folks on this site will tell you, save up and buy yourself a lone wolf if you can. The durability of these things is unbelievable.

As for climbing safety. The lineman's belt is only there to give you brief opportunities to use both hands while climbing. You'll see need to use screw-in steps or climbing sticks in order to make your way up the tree. If possible while climbing, use your lifeline when you can. Here's a good video of a guy putting sticks up as he climbs a tree http://youtu.be/3clPFGAwB3s

I would go to the outdoors store nearest you and sit on a couple to see what fits you the best.As for putting them up I like sticks instead of screw in steps and i use a belt from "Treehopper" he is on the forum just search for him. Great guy and knows his set up safety.

We have several Big Game treestrands, but they are all ladder stands. I can tell you that I have always been impressed with their durability and comfort. Sorry, but I don't have any experience with their hang-on stands.

My experience with Big Game stands (I think I have The Boss, or something like that), were are they pretty much what I expected when I bought it. I leave mine up throughout the season, so for only having to put it up once a year, it does an alright job.

I would much rather spend a few extra bucks on a Gorilla though.

Walmart has gorilla hang on stands for $129, they have arms also.
Does the $150 include sticks also?

Another question: Will this be safe in a woods? I have my own land that is locked by with no strangers. So I don't need the uber light aluminum stuff. I have been in a big game with arms and it was a really nice stand, especially for the money. That said I would get the gorilla, it's basically the same price but looks a lot nicer.
I know ****s sporting goods has 16 feet of climbing sticks for $70, I get mine on clearance at christmas for $30
