Have you ever noticed that when ever a supper big buck is spotted in a hunting area. And other hunters in your area ether see him or just catch wind of him from other hunters. That they will do things that normally they would never do and are way out of character for them ? Almost as if they have lost there mind . I have noticed this more and more in the past few years and wonder what this really says about us as Sportsmen. Has the true meaning of fair chase and respect for the game we pursue been passed down thru the generations ?? Or is it like a video game that you just do whatever it takes to win ??? Thank,s for any comments !!!
Yes, I have seen this first hand this fall. Had to contact the warden even because the other guy that hunts the farm I hunt was basically harassing me while I hunted to make sure I didn't get a shot at the big buck. Unbelievable what people will do! It's too bad really.
This has gone on since the beginning of time. It's nothing new. Most likely it has to do with there being more hunters and less land. BTW, if any laws were broken they are then poachers, not hunters.
I can admit that I get alittle crazy when I get a big buck on one of my cams! But I would never do anything unsportsman like to another hunter in the area. If anthing, I hunt alot more in the area where I got the pics. Over the years I've had pics of some really good bucks for my area and never see them during the season. This year was no different! I got these two on video and some pics but never seen them all season. I think they where hiding out on some private land close by.
I agree with Greg that this has gone on for a long time. I do believe it has gotten worse though with people scouting more running trail cameras they find out about these big bucks more often and sooner than the old days. I am lucky where I havent had many people sneak into our lease but every year there are more and more tree stands right on the fence...I just wish they would face them towards there own land more often. I share all of my pics, stands, and blinds with the rest of the guys on the lease but we do have one guy who is a dirty son of a ***** who keeps all info to himself while he is hunting even though he asks for all of the pics and what every one else is seeing. Good thing I figured out that if I bring beer down for him he cant keep his mouth shut once he is drinking
I hunt a lot of public land and I tend to find about 90% of the guys are real protective of intel and bucks - but every once in a while a couple guys will talk freely. That's nice and it works out well because I go out of my way to avoid hunting near someone else. I figure the big bucks are clever enough to avoid the 2 or 3 guys who hunt 65 yards apart
Ain't that the truth; with less land more hunter comes territory disputes, but what I have noticed is when I am hunting up North they get all mad if a tourist hunts and makes a kill before the locals do, but done here when I hunt most people just get a long on the hunts we just respect the spots of others and find our own spots regardless of monster bucks.
