They update these every 7 years or what ever it is between the publication of their newest book. These are registered bucks.... There are many that never see the record book. I am guessing this is 5+ years old?
WI is looking awful good but suprised to see so many up north. I Live in Shawano county (same county as the picture)
That Walter Baker Buck was killed just down the road from my place. My taxi friend mounted it for him. Double drop tines!!
If I am not reading this wrong... WI has at least one B&C in every county... It looks like IL has one in every county but one
As is mine, as is mine. The 4 counties above me, however, 6-10 each. Now how can that be? The only geographical boundary is the Missouri River.....Strange...but interesting.
Guys remember, this map is still pretty proportional I'd think. If my county shows 6-10, even though I know of 2-3 last year alone, doesnt mean all counties arent this way. I'd say the numbers are way low, but are likely still proportional to overall numbers. A county with 0-2 entries may have 3 killed that isnt entered, while the county with 11+ may have 9 killed that werent entered. Good map imo, but doesnt tell me much about the caliber bucks I hunt.....I fully accept the fact that I will likely NEVER get a shot at a booner with my bow, even though I hunt in one of the best counties in Kentucky to do so. I never see myself getting past the passing on 130" deer stage to give myself the legitimate chance. :d
Cool map Scott!! I'd bet that this map/stats are about 10 years old. I'm really looking forward to the updated one.
Look at Minnesota. lol And we don't even try to grow big deer! Imagine if we did. All but about 6 counties and the one way up north that is white I believe is a Indian reservation. And one is Ramsey county complete Metro.
You'll also notice that OHIO in the NE where Buckeye and I hail from, the counties surrounding and including ours are in the 1-2 Catagory.
