Close to a big boy twice, either he's got a little body or he's got one HECK of a rack (at first I thought about 135 or so, but now I'm not sure he's not bigger.... ). Gonna have to move my stand as he's been within 35yds of me twice but not in a clear shooting lane. I don't want to disturb the vegetation so I'm gonna move down the ridge a little and crossover his path so I'm on the other side of him. Not gonna get to try til
Tuesday...... Wish me luck, I'm gonna be chompin' the bit until I can try again.......

Finally got out after this guy and I set up down the ridge a bit, good wind for where he'd been travelling, and damn near 50 turkeys came in and fed under me for what seemed like an hour. They didn't leave until the sun was on the horizon, meandered over the hill, I sat tight the whole time resisting the temptation to WHACK one of them because I didn't want the whole woods to explode just when Mr. Big was about to show...... (it can be stressful when it sounds like the WHOLE WOODS is moving around you and you know your have damn near 100 eyes that are very keen that could pick you up at ANY TIME, I think I was about as relieved as I've ever been hunting when those damned things finally left.) And then a few minutes later the hastily go scattering about on the ridge I'm on, including under and all around me again, then fly hastily up into the trees all around me as something (likely a coyote) was chasing them around on the ground. Mr. Big never showed, but I did find some phenomonal rubs, one tree about 6" in diamater is BARE for about 30" starting about 18" off the ground!!! He has just SHREDDED this tree!!! And several more are pretty torn up. DAMNED TURKEYS!!! :throw:

Hard to fly like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys, good luck with him and enjoy whatever nature throws at you.
