Vito... yeah I see your point on the NFL being a business and doing what they see fit to represent the league. I guess my point is, if that's the case there are a LOT of worse apples doing some pretty unrepresentable things in the league than Ben. Granted he is an idiot and doing some pretty stupid things. But you think there maybe a player or two doing off field things that arent' good for the NFL?
I agree there are and have been other players getting in trouble. Some worse than Ben. What really seems to bother the NFL powers that be, are repeat offenders. I think Goodell has been fairly consistent since he took over.
I see it like this he wasnt criminally charged b/c there wasnt any evidence that he had commited a crime, lets face it young women these days are loose and are very opportunistic. you dont go into the "VIP" w/ a bunch of superstars and then walk into the bathroom with a man unless you have intentions. Big Bens lawyers was prepared to subpena the security video and have the lady's sexual history brought into the courts eye.then she declined to pursue the charges.its plain and simple the woman was after money! just like the first one! I know I didnt see somebody talking bout ben and the cleveland browns thats a joke right? maybe if the browns and the bengals join together they can win a damn game! how many times has ben whooped everything in ohio? hell put the reds out there maybe they wont get knocked out!
Its disturbs me that people think like that. This is often how sexual assaults happen. The man feels she has made it obvious she wants to have sex, so he proceeds despite what she says. A woman can change her mind you know. She may enter that bathroom, even start making out, but at some point if she decides this is a bad idea and says so, its over. Of course there are instances of women just for money or fame. I would bet those are a small minority. Many rapes and sexual assaults never get reported...and thats sad.
I remember my college coach holding a one hour "sex information" session with all the players, once a year. He would literally have us repeat what he was saying. He outlined every single scenario even to the point where one of us was having sex and the woman said stop. He would then treat us like first graders and would say, "what does that mean?". We would all say in unison, "stop". No means no, stop means stop. Do not have sex with a drunk female. He would say it over and over until we were sick and tired of hearing it, but we got the message.
Believe me Jeff, I will have that discussion with my son at an early age. He has already been taught to respect women and feels bad when he hurts their feelings. He is not going to get any advice from me that makes women look like objects.
With professional athletes? It's my opinion that money Is what their after In allot of these cases. I agree, It Is sad.
The problem with this mentality is........it gives professional/high profile athletes a free pass. It's a built-in, fallacy-ridden defense (quite possibly). I'm not willing to give that to anyone.
Steve, I didn't mean just with professional athletes. Those are just the ones that seem to make major news. That doesn't happen often, compared to the number of professional athletes in this country. Thats why I said its a small minority. Because these cases get so much attention, people make bad generalizations about women. You see it in this thread, for example.
I see what your saying Matt. Money makes people (females and males) do not so good things. There's BS on each side of the spectrum here.
Most definitely. Sorry to keep "riding" your posts but you and I (and Jeff) see identically on this issue and you are saying what I am thinking before I can say it.
