Looks better than it actually was.That arrow hit the center ridge bone of the shoulder plate dead center.Just a hair to the right would have been perfect.
Shot angle and broadhead toughness matter a lot too. I have made shots that I knew were perfect that turned into fiascos and others where I am sick when I see the hit and the deer takes 5 steps and falls over dead. The value of heavier arrows and well constructed broadheads become evident when a shoulder bone is hit. I never even thought about a shoulder bone stopping a Muzzy loaded 2219 aluminum but since I switched to carbons, it is definitely an issue. I love Bruce's signature quote about constructin an arrow for when things go wrong.
