Well this year has been different, from my gear getting swiped to pretty much getting skunked until this morning.

Yesterday coming in from the hunt I spotted this buck bedded with a doe on the neighbors property. I decided to bust him out of his bed, I have found they tend to circle around and cross the river. There was a little buck with them also, as they ran off I could see he was a good buck.

This morning I went out about 4:30 AM, on the way out I spotted a deer in the hay, I watch him go right where I wanted to hunt. So I switch gears and hustled to the cherry tree stand.

At 5:00 AM I heard three or four deer come by, at 6:00 I could hear them in the corn runniing around. Around 7:00 2 does came out behind me, with the 9 and little buck following. I had a 25 yd shot, but got my hand caught on my safety strap. The doe then took off and he followed she led him right to me at 5 yds broadside, but like a door knob I did not clear a shot there. So I waited until he walked in front of me. He then turn and took off after the doe, no shot and second time I had the bow back. the doe darted around again and brought him back, again bow back, but no shot. She then took off did a loop and brought him back a 4th time, I pulled back but could not get a shot. Then they both darted into corn.

Ten mins goes by and the doe comes out of the corn does a big loop and heads into the corn. He comes a bit later, this is where i pulled out my deer flute I got from Rob and grunted at him. I got zero reponse, I blew a few more times and he started on the path of the doe. He got out in front of me and I slid that slide up and bleated, this got his attention. He appeared to be coming my way, then he turned and went around the tree row. He was headed to the corn, I pulled back and put the 30 yd pin on him, he stopped and i let it fly. I hit a little low, but I thought it was a good hit, he ran 100 yds into the crp and stopped. He stood there forever it seem and then tipped over.

Damn tongue, Walmart Boy is half blind:p

Congrats Germ! He's a nice buck! I bet it was frustrating having him so close so many times and not getting a shot. I'm glad he finally made the mistake of stopping for ya!

just for fun I am not going to score him, if you kill another one then you win, but if not I think it's going to be pretty close, LOL I am going to have someone else score him.

    Thank you

You know he almost looks like two different buck with his antlers. He's a tall 8 on one side and a flat wide ten on the other.

Great Job Germ! I wish I could use my second buck tag now but unfortunately in Missouri we have to wait until after the rifle season.

I got down and took a look, once I seen the arrow it confirmed my belief he was down. I saw it, watched it, but did not believe it:p

Gary, congrats again. I'm really glad you scored, I know you've been getting frustrated. That buck definitely wanted shot giving you that many chances.

BTW, thanks for the text. Where's the love man? :p
