I'm with the group using pants in early-mid and bibs when it gets cold. Although when its REALLY cold out I;ll have pants on and then bibs over top.
Bibs for sure for me when it gets cold. They seem to keep me warmer and are much easier to put on when i get out of truck.
There's one or two other companies out there, but I'm not sure on their cost. I do not regret the cost of the HBS though. Worth every penny in my book. Plus, it's not that much more than a quality bib & parka combo. Less if you look at the really good stuff. And, as I said, I like being able to shoot without big ol' parka sleeves
Pants always.... bibs take to long to remove when ya really have to.... when ya gotta go, ya gotta go
Bibs, just like them better, plus when its a bit colder out, bib is a bit more toasty for my liking! But to each his own!!
I wear bibs because I like to wear as little as possible on my arms and shoulders for shooting purposes, and the bibs cover more torso keeping more heat in. So it's multiple hats and a neck gaiter, heavy bibs, and on my upper body just a tighter fitting wind stopper fleece sweatshirt, all over merino wool long underwear top and bottom.
Always switch to bibs once the cold sets in. Not sure what it is about bibs but my lower back always ends up aching when I wear them
