Hey everyone, a little late but here's my turkey story for this year. It's a shotgun kill so I hope nobody minds that I'm posting it here. I figured the trophies thread was for bowkills only. I didn't get as much time in the woods this spring, due to work and a handful of roadtrips with friends .... but I was able to get out a few times and had a ton of fun. I didn't even get a chance to hunt our Indiana property once, but my grandpa's land in Ohio made for some fun times again. Any group of birds that messes with you for hours, and then suddenly steps out at less than 10 steps is what I call a good time. In all... Peaceful woods, and marinated jake kabobs.. Gotta love a foggy spring morning, but I would prefer October 1st right now Toms are finally starting to use the top of the ridge at the Indiana property where I cut a clearing awhile back, with a cedar thicket out of sight to the left. I was only able to get out there this year one time this year!. Oh well, again..Is it deer season yet? .
It's like this Adam...I know alot of guys who didn't get their turkey with a gun this year. So you did a good job! Your young yet so there is plenty of time to get one with a bow. I started my turkey hunting with a gun and now it's bow only. I think it is a good idea to start out with a gun at first. The turkeys will teach you alot during those gun hunts which will help you in the future with a bow. That bird is a trophy no matter what!!! Job well done.
