Hey folks im a bowhunter out of southeastern lower Michigan, and I thought id share my story and perhaps gain some insight of what my next move should be...

I got out to my stand today for the afternoon hunt and at about 4:30- 5 oclock I seen a deer moving in from behind me. It was a nice respectable 8 pointer but when I looked a lil closer I seen he had company. This was quite possibly the biggest deer I have ever seen hunting in the woods. Im 30 now and have been hunting on again off again since I was 15, but within the past 6 years all I do is bowhunt. That beeing said this guy was making me quake. Easily 130-140 inch class having to maneuver his head to walk through the thick stuff. He gets into a clear area but is quartering toward me at about 8 yards.. he was that close! I had the bow drawn but it seemed the whole time he was staring me down. I tried to slowly move for a shot but he didnt like it so he bounded off behind me and stayed about 30 yards away. The 8 meanwhile made a small move in, but then went back out... 15 minutes later just the 8 pointer reapears coming from the complete opposite dirrection. He walks in and when he turns to walk back out, and with me not seeing that 10 anymore I decide its time to take him.. Needless to say I complete my misserable day by overshooting him. (watched me lumenok go right over his back).. He just bounded about 15 yards and then just walked off too...

My question is after that big one just staring at me should I move to a different tree? should I sit tight and cover up better? should I leave that area completely?

    Suggestions would be great..

    Thanks
    Cris

Any Ideas on where he was coming from or going to?? I'd have to mix it up a bit and get somewhere alse along that route. He's probably not gone, but he'll be careful of coming through that particular area again if he made or smelled ya.

I'd move closer to where he was coming from.

he came from behind me out from a swamp that is by some houses.. might be difficult for me to move "closer" Usually if they smell ya dont they blow or bolt? Im just still so mad at not beeing able to close the deal on this wall hanger its just killin me. I literally wanted to jump outta that tree head first. adding to my dismay is the issue of finding a suitable tree for my climber.. I will check out how much closer I can move tommorow. Gonna forgo the morning hunt and regroup I think.
