Reconyx is simply the best but it comes with a price, if it wasn't for Reconyx I would have a home brew as all other commercial units have flaws or have failed on me.

There are numerous good cams out there it just all depends on your budget. The reconyx cams are good cams but I have seen cheaper cams take better pics just shop around an research cams in your price range

Roconyx are the best hands down. Cost more? For sure, but with the price comes reliably that I have haven't found in any other brands. When setting cameras on a lease that is 12 hours from home they have given me the piece of mind that i know they will always work.

Battery life and SD card issues are also common failures with Cruddebacks. I sold all mine Best move I made.

I have a bunch of the Uway Nighttraker cameras. Good trigger speed with high quality pictures and video has sound. Reasonable price with a hand held remote that you can view a live shot so you know what you are taking a picture of.

I like gutone4me's comment myself. A lot of good cameras out there on that price.

I second that, far and away one of worst I used in regards to battery life. Seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to figuring out how long the batteries would last

its not the blanks I'd worry about as much as the no triggers...my covert ca3.0 was outproducing my bros cudde 4 to 1 on a predator bait this past month and sometimes the cudde wouldn't even have one pic of the yote where the covert would have 5-6. Same with the deer passing by at 10 ft for both cams -the covert might have only gotten the tail but it at least triggered.

i have three moultrie's, one wildgame, and three hunten outdoors cameras. moultrie sucks great battery life though maybe because they dont take any pics if the object is more than five feet away. wildgame x6c is the best camera that i have battery life is awesome and takes awesome pics no blackouts, no blurred pics, best camera so far. it is $100. hunten outdoors cameras are awesome too, two of them use six volt batterys so they last a long time. the other hunten camera takes great pic but the battery die in about 3-4 weeks. and they also have great customer service, unlike moultrie! i will be buying more wildgame x6c cameras. they also have great customer service.

Trust me you ARE missing animals. Try a test with another camera. I hated going to my camera after a week and having dead batteries or no pics on the card when I got home. If you have never had a problem with Cruddeback you are one lucky guy.

Yes you are missing animals and the reason why is this "centered subject technology" they advertise. That's just a fancy way of saying the sensors field of view is so narrow the camera won't take a pic unless the subject is directly in front of it. I did a little test a couple of years ago with an old Stealthcam and a Cudde Capture. Same place same time and everything. The Stealthcam got over 3x as many pics as the Cudde. Now I'm no big fan of Stealtcams either but that just goes to show the hype on the Cuddes. It's a real shame because they could have a very good camera if they would just change two things. The sensing area of the unit and their customer service. Don't even get me started on that last one. But to answer the OP question, I would go with a Bushnell, Scoutguard, or maybe a Covert. For the money, they are worlds above a Cudde.

    Blessings.......Pastorjim
