I recently had a moultree d-40 and it did great for the spring and summer but after that it crapped out on me and I want a new one. What is a good cam for 150 or under?
While it may be an inconvenience, it will cost you $10 for shipping to send your Moultrie back but they will fix it. Of course this time of year they have others to fix so it takes alittle longer to get it back but $10 is cheaper then $150
My Stealth Cam nomad ir has been working great for the last 3 years. I got mine at Bass Pro for around $100 on sale. If you want to see some pictures from it look at my post in this forum http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=17265
i just got my cam out of my closet and me being an idiot left the batteries in so now the whole things leaking battery acid and its all corroded. so now i defidentally am in need of a new one lol. anybody use cuddebacks?
I have two bushnell trophy cams and love them. 4 months or so off of 4 AA batteries and around 3,000 pics. Also good picture quality and great trigger speeds.
So far so good on the two cuddebacks capture (flash) that I have. The picture quality is very good. I also have a couple of moultries that are hit and miss.
When my Cuddeback Captures were working, they were great cameras. Trouble is, out of the 4 I owned 3 had to go back to Cuddeback at some point for repairs. Needless to say, I don't own them anymore. This year I've been using the Bushnell Trophy Cams with reasonable succes, and a Primos Truth Cam as well. The Bushnells have better better life and are smaller in size, but the Primos cams are cheaper and quality-wise are pretty much the same. I don't think you can really go wrong with either camera.
I have a Cuddeback Capture and a Primos Truth Cam, and I definitely like the Primos better. The Cuddeback just doesnt seem to take many pictures, I don't have as much confidence in it as I do my Primos.
I have the Truth Cam 46, and my friend has the Truth Cam 60. I plan on buying more of the 46s, because I can't justify the extra money for the difference in picture quality (which is very small).
If you were to buy another camera, which would you buy? I have been looking at buying a couple more, and those are exactly what I have narrowed it down to.
I should have added SO FAR to the end of my post. I only had the BTC out for about a week before I pulled it.. Worked good in that time spot though. I put it back out on Sunday and will be checking it this Saturday. SO FAR I will take the BTC though because of the size, and it doesn't make a noise when a picture is being taken. The Truth Cam makes a noise when there is a picture being taken, like a clunking noise. I've heard the BTC's battery life is great, but so far my Truth Cam's bettery life has been outstanding also. I'll probably post a review/comparison of them both after this season's over.
I second this.... Or the Moultrie i40....fix it.... I did alot of research before i bought my 2 cams. Both have worked perfectly for me. I have had Stealth cams in the past and they ALL died on me. Thats my 2cents from 8 years of use.
You seem to have a lot better luck with your Cuddeback than I do. I have mine overlooking a deer feeder, and I usually get like 10 pictures over around 4 days. I know there are more deer going to the feeder, I have watched them walk by the camera with no picture taken. I don't know what the problem is, probably just my luck of the draw. Rory- A comparison would be awesome. The sound is the only thing about the Primos camera that I can complain about as of now.
Bushnell Trophy Cam I'll just add that I'm happy with my 2010 trophy cam. I was able to get it for only 160 but by the time I added a lock box and cable the cost was a bit more. Batteries last forever, trigger speed is good, and it takes decent pictures. The link below is not one of my better quality captures but it demonstrates how good the detection is and how fast the trigger speed is. You have to watch the second the video starts and you'll see the eyes of a coyote bouncing in the far left of the frame and he runs out the other side, still pretty far from the camera. Although you can't see much, I was very impressed with the fact that the coyote was detected as far as it was, through the woods no less. So far I've only used the normal sensitivity setting. There are some better captures in that same directory. http://vw.homelinux.net/z/picture.php?/1212/category/77 Vern
