Would like to know when people feel the best time to sit near food plots is. During the rut and pre rut. I have been near them in the afternoon with best luck. Not much time spent during the morning. Any one else have there take.
I think usually you need to hunt the trails leaving the plots in the morning, specially for bucks. Same thing for evening hunts here until late season. Then they're liable to be in them anytime, specially for brassicas, they start getting sweet and the deer love them then. Here in Eastern Oklahoma where I hunt you won't see a decent buck in a food plot until after gun season unless a hot doe leads him there, same thing with feeders. In December most of the lightweight bowhunters have quit and you might see a good buck anytime. Just have to put in the time. I'm talking about private land leased or not. On well managed land you would need to find out from the manager, IMO. For some reason I see more deer overall in the mornings and I have two or three huntin buddys that see more of the evening. Don't know if it's the way we scout and put up stands or what.
